ORONO 7, PORT HOPE 6-fn -a- see-saw battle ai the Orono Park on Monday evening the Orono Midgets took a 7-6 win over Port Hope. Graydon Moore on the mound for Orono gave up six hits while the Orono batters took eleven. Moore not only pitched a good game but came up with three hits. John Cornish, Nickie Van Segglen and Tom Moffat all belted out two hits with single hits going to Tim Jenkins and Ron Clapdorp. The Orono Midgets will play the Port Hope club in the first round of the finals as both teams are in the C group. KAWARTHA RACEWAY Gerald Robinson and Derek Newman both picked up wins at the Kawartha Raceway during the past week. Robinson took his win driving Joe Stadt in the fifth race in a time of 2.09.1. In twenty-five starts this year the horse has won a total of $1,543. Second in the event was Wee Albert, owned by Morley and Gordon Robinson of Newtonville. Derek Newman notched his win on Saturday evening driving the Orono owned horse of James Phair, Tarpot Scotty. The race went in 2.08.2 and was its fourth win in twenty starts this year. THe horse has also placed on two occasions and shown on five occasions. Gerald Robinson was second in the same race with Joe Stadt and Junior West was sixth with King Direct. Thursday evening Junior West was second with Belle's Son and finished fifth with Geisha Richelieu in the tenth one position back of his brother, Keith, driving Donna Duke Dee. On Friday, Juiy 26th a competition is being held in the Orono Park for children 12 years and under in the art of Frisbee throwing. The winner of the competition along with the next two runner-ups will have the opportunity to com- pete in the Canadian Champ- ionships to be held at the C.N.E. in Toronto on Monalay, August 19th. Mr. Russ Major asks that those wishing to enter the competition be at the park at 6:30 p.m. on July 26th. The competition includes events for accuracy, distance, guts and skills. The Guts compet- ition requires a team of five boys or girls. Derek Newman was fifth in the 8th with Victor Hal Direct. The ninth race was won by Sir Edward Pick in the fast time of 2.03.3 leaving Newman in a sixth place finish with Ruby Parker and Gord Irwin in a seventh place finish with Carmen Comet. Irwin returned in the tenth to finish fourth with Hoot Van while Keith West was seventh with Ja De Glasford. Andy's Comet won the event in a time of 2.08.3. Some local horses and iorsemen were entered in the races at Port Perry on Sunday with F. Stacey driving Wil Lor Amy to fourth and Keith West a third place finish with Jeanie Marie. M, (on
