Entwisle then ýstated that it also required land acquisition by the Town for the road to bring it up to standard as well as need for a 99 foot radiu.s for a turn around. He said there was miuch to consider but it was up to the applicant to now make his move. Mr. Liptay asked council to accept his word that the work would be done Up to a cost of $5,000.00. Couni. Wearn stated that even if the work was to start now it would be unlikely that he would have winter -maintenance in 1974 to which Mr. Liptay said he would not ask for such maintenance. Coun. Entwisle said this was unacceptable 'as there could be a need for winter passage for fire or accident. Coun. EVALUATE ALTERNATE ROUTES'FOR HYDRO IN AREA (Continued from vaee 1) Forests as well as a route South of 401 hehway.. The main purpose of the study by Sparling is to provide the Commission with a common basis for comparing the routes including those prev- iously provided by Hydro and Commonwealth. Dr. Solandt stated that hie as well as the public will listen to this new evaluation of the routes, the new northern and southern routes. He stated that the three routes, the north, the south and the middle route chosen by Hydro and Commonwealth differ widely in th eir charact- eristics and will present a problemi of choice. He further stated that hie has contacted Hydro to re-evaluate the Gatineau line due to the fact that Ont ario Hydro is consid- ering a 500KV line from Montreal to Ottawa and in some way this may effect the Lennox to Oshawa line. This' report ià to corne before the public hearings later this year. .The sparling study starts east at Rossmount in Hope Township and with the south route would first travel south along an existing hydro line to south and east of No. 2 highway then to pass aîong with the railway line tc Wesleyville. The line could then travel west just southof 401 to the proposed Darlington Station passing south of Newcastle Villa2e at thé- Waltona Park. The northern route which was evaluated would run north from Rossmount to the north part of Concession 9 in Hope and then west through Clarke -about midway in, the 8th Concession and continue on a straight line through the 7th conc ession of Darlington.q The northern route would require a switching station at the intersection of a line north from Wesleyville to the north- ern route. The southern routeq requires no switching station. In comparison. the south route (ail below 401) would9 havea distance of 36 -milesg from Rossmount to Darling-9 ton compared with 48 miles9 *for the Ganaraska route and1 43 miles forthe Hydro-Com- monwelath alternative. Theq South 'route would affect 8 homes compared with six on either of the others. Acreage of cultivated land affected would be 1359 acres on the south, 2203 on the Ganaraska and 1580 on the middle Hydro-Commonwealth, route. The southern route elimin- ates a four line stretch to the north of Wesleyville as well as, the switching station. t also eliminates the need of a fourth line north from the Darlington Station and reduces the seven line stretch running we st into Oshawa to a three uine stretch.
