"We have been 'Mr. Nice Guy' so far, but now we'll get a littie nastier." Gordon Coiborne, generai manager of operations for Eldorado, said Friday the Crown corporation hopes to begin production at the plan- ned refinery by 1980. The facility would employ 150 people on a regular basîs and 350 druing construction. Before the project can get off the ground, various levels of government will have to give their approval. Mr. Coîbourne said the refinery's impact on the environment "wîll be insignif- icant an~d the plant wili be of substantiai economnic benefit to this community and ail of Canada." Mr. Veldluuis accused Eld- orado and the AECB of "collusion" in settlirig on the Port Granby site. "It appears to be a package deal," continued the SEAP president. "They soive the Port Hope problem by pas- sing it on to us." SEAP was for'med iast spring, when the Crown Corporation first began exp- loring the possiblity of expan- ding to Port Granby. Mr. Veldhuis insisted it is "1ridiculous" for the company to choose the site "when it knows full weli this is not the best location."
