IT -HAS TAKEN FIFTYVEARS It has taken fîfty years and it generally does, to celebrate one's fiftieth birthday. This was the case for E. H-. (Ted) Sarlnuel on Jan. 24th, last WVednesday evening at the Baggesen Gallery in Toronto wben over two butndred guests from Toronto, Buffalo and Orono attended the fif- tietb anniversary. The birthday party had an interesting twist ii, tbat Mrs. Samuel bad arranged a showing of lier husband's watercolours and had billed the evening, "One man... one nîght retrospective of watercolours by Ted Sam- uel ". On display were some 50 watercolours spaning some tbirty years in tbis hobby for ber husband. Most of tbe paintings were on loan for the I Kenda1 October, November and December were the coldest in the last fifty years and it would appear that January is going to join the record.
