The preview begins at 1:00 p.m. The Auctioneer, Henry Kahn of Port Penny, starts the Auction at 7:30 p.m. Margot Samuel received her Bachelor of Arts degree with emphasis on Art and Archeoiogy from the Univer- sity of Toronto, 1952. Upon graduation she inîtiated, or- ganized and directed numer- ous three-act and one-act piays in Orono and Bowman- ville. In 1970 she becomne a Docent at the Robert McLa- ghlin Gallery and.still acts in A coroner's jury last Wed- nesda y in Bowm-anvilie rec- ommended that better co-ord- ination betweeni police, lire and ambulance services be established in the region of Durham, following a hearing pertaining to the drowning death of M.J. Dunphy of Toronot, last November in Lake Ontario. Duanphy cap- sized a rubber boat while endeavouring to retrieve a duck in the lake. The jury's findings came after it heard that an ambul- ance dispatcher did not know which agency in the region wouid be best equipped to handie the situation. Other recommendations put forth by the jury inciud- ed: -equipping ail police cruis- ers with inflatible dinghys and binoculars. -updating communications service between police, fire and ambulance unîts on a regular basis. -împiementing a central emergency phone number and service capable of dis- patching proper emergency equipment. The jury agreed with Cor- oner Dr. David Mosienko of Bowmanville that police, tire and ambulance personnel be aware of the other's emer- gency facilities. A dispatcher with the Oshawa ambulance service told the inquest he received a cail regarding the incident about 8:02 a.m. He then radioed the Bowmanviile unit to contact Durham Regional Police. The dispatcher then receiv- ed a cail about 8:08 a.m. from the ambulance attendants at the scene that a boat was required. Not knowing who couid have a rescue craf t he caiied Ontario Provincial Pol- ice at Newcastle. Then nine minutes later a second cal informed him thiat Newcastle tire departmrent had such a craf t. The dispatcher said at the time he had no idea what agency was best equipped to handle this situation. The inquest heard that the ambul- ance service has since updat- ed its files and educated its emp]oyees as to who to cal for various emergencies. Roth Newcastle Fire Chief James Hayman and Oshawa Fire Chief Ernest Stacey told omm mmm, this capacity. Under their suspicies she has organized many exhibitions, conducted museumn tours and theatre trips. She pubiished articles in Arts Magazine on Impres- sionism in Canada and wrote weekiy columns on the Arts for the Orono Weekly Times. Margot has long been active in the many art forms of the community. At present, she is the Art Rentai Chair- person of the Robert McLau- ghiin Gallery. Hier speciali nterests lie mainily in collecting contem- porary Canadians and Amer- ican paintings and scuiture, with extensive research into early and Contemporary Can- adian Art.
