UNITED COUNTIES PE E WEES Friday, M.arch llth the Orono Pee Wees met M1illbrook No. 2 in the Orono arena beating them, by a score of 6-4. Orono started the scoring in the first period with goals by Jamïe Cowan and Steven Wood, both assisted by Kirk Carr. Millbrook came back with one goal ending the period 2-1. Millbrook tied the game early ni the second period only to have Bret Johnson put Orono in the lead again on a pass from Shayne Adams. Orono ended the scoring in the third period, 3-2, with Shayne Adams, Bret Johnson and Steven Stec assisted by Danny Prosek, Orono travelled to Uxbrîdge on Saturday to attend their annual Atom Touruament. The Orono boys played the Oshawa lack Hawks a major Atom team from the Little N.H.L. i their first game. Orono was behind 1-0 at the end of the fiést period and were playiug well against a Af ter a big meal the Orono boys were ready to go against Port Perry, but penalties cost dearly as Port Perry scored three power play goals. Orono could not get on track from then on and scored their only goal in the third period with Randy Wednesday evening, March 9th, the O.M.H.A. Midgets facedi Pickering and were victorious 5-1. Terry Deriet opened the scoring for Orono and then credited wth the third and fiftlh goal to get a hat trick for the evening. The other Orono goals were from Doug Hancock and Mark Charland, assists went to Gary Clapdorp (2), Jîm Leslie (3), David Sunstrum, John West (2) and Charles Quantrill. On Saturday, March 12th, the Mlidgets travelled to Lindsay and defeated the home teamn 3-1. Orono opened the scoring early lu the second with a shot from Jini Leslie, assist to Ken Evans. Lindsay came back within a few Terry Wat son and Bret -Johnson ending the gamle64 Monday, March l14th the team-f travelled to 'Newcastle to tie Newcastle No. '2, 3-3. Newcastle ended the scoring la the first perïod with Kirk Carr putting ln a pass froni Bret Johuison late lu the period putting Orono on 'the scoreboard. Kýirk Carr scnred the only second period goal from Steven Wood to tie the game. In the third period Don Doxtater put Orono ahead with an unassisted goal only to have Newcastle come to tie the game 3-3. - very stronig Oshawa club. Iu the second period the roof caved lu with Oshawa scoriug 8 unanswered goals. In the third period Orono settled down and held Oshawa to only one goal. Scoring the goals for Orono were Mark Charland (2), Doug Hancock and Jini Leslie. Assists went to Mike Mitchell (2), John West (2), Gary Clapdorp and Doug Hancock. The Midgets next game will be Saturday, March 19th at 8:00 p.m. lu the Orono arena. Awa it f urther pool informatn The Board of Education received an interim report concerning the construction of a swimming pool and squash court complex as an addition to the Bowmanville High School. The endeavor is being fostered by a group ln Bowmanville kuown as SPLASH which is stili compil- ing information on which a final decision eau be based both by themselves, the Town and the Board of Education. The endeavour was given tentative approval by the Town Council late in 1976 at which time the SPLASH organization said they were ready to move on a financial campaign for the venture. The group not only intends to have the project placed as an addition to the school building but also have the school help with the operational costs of the complex through its use of the facilities for school pur- poses. Then Ross Stutt slipped lu Robbie Talsma's rehound. Bob Myles picked the top corner ou a wicked wrist shot, from Alan Webster, Martin Perry slipped lu Jim Moffatt's sizzler from the point.
