Soccer boom hits Orono We have just felt a "Soccer Boom", hit Orono on registration day at Orono arena last Good Friday. In 3 hrs. we had 42 registrations, 15 for the Pee-wees, (11-14 years), and 27 for the Atoms, (7-10 years) . . The Orono Athletic Association has now entered two teams of the Atom age group into the Darlington Minor Soccet League. Unfortunately we had no registrat- ion for our Junior Soccer (15-17 years) at all, and if no one comes forward by this weekend, this team will have to fold. Congratulations to Lynda Merrick (8 years old) who was the first pretty young land to sign on our Atoms Boys Team. (Bv the way, Lynda was the young lady that I referred to in last week's article on "Girls - Why Not", when she took a slap shot on her brother in goal, playing hockey). Also congratulations to Shelley Richards, who was our second young lady (14 years old), and she will be playing in our Pèe wee team. All the best, girls. We are all looking forward to the season to start on May 16th. If there are more applicants, please do not hesitate to phone me at 983-9430. Thanking you once again, Roger E.
