Dog show a howlingff success Last Saturday the Ganar- aska Forest centre resounded ",with tbe deep voiced beys of Coon hounds as owners and dogs assembled for what bas been described as tbe largest turnout for such an event in the district. The annual Durhamn Region Coon Hound Association competiton was sanctioned by the United Kennel Club and participants taking part were from as far away as New York State and many parts of Ontario. The bench competition wns held in the afternon for the popular breeds of Coon hounds and was held at the forest centre. This competi- tion took into accord the better points of breeding and conformity of the animals as well as showmansbip. Somewhere around a ine o 'dock in the evening ,tbdý bunt was organized wbicb carried on for a period of three hours. Here again dog was-in competition with dog to hunt out and tree a coon. It was pointed out that coons are not harmed in anyway and if such does bappen througb of act of the bandier or the dog bath are disqualified from tbe trials. The night bunt ranged over an area of fifty miles. The bunt is organized in units of four dogs .vith their handiers as well as a guide and a judge. The event bas been termed the best and biggest held in this area to date.
