Squash is Canada's fastest 1growing indoor sport, and Durham College's new Athie- tic and Activities building boasts five superb airçon- ditioned squash courts. There aïre two exhibition courts side by side with glass backwails. An extensive vie 'wing gallery services both of these courts to enable several hundred people to observe this exiit- ing game being piayed. Al courts are Standard North American size, and are de- si gned so they can be conver- ted to intérnational Standard. Mecmbers can participate in exhilarating games in the large double gymnasium, inciuding basketball, volley- bail, badminton and iridoor tennis. There is provision for general purpose use of the facility, so that additional sports such as archery, table tennis, golf training and fencing can also be enjoyed. The gymnasiumn is built to International Standards, and can be used for spectator events, as there are attract- ive bleachers at one side which can seat 1000 persons. The College will officialIy open its new Athietie and Activities building on Novem- ber 13 at a ceremony which will preceed an Open House to be held November 14 as part of a celebration of its ioth anni'versary of service to the Durham Region. General community membership is $50. per year, and in addition there will be an al inclusive membership which entails no charge for squash or badminton courts, and a founding member membership.
