Since Sir Baden Powell, the founder of scouting, would be celebrating a birthday on Wednesday, February 22nd tribute was given to him. It was pointed out tbat he was, the first and greatest scout and it was througb bis efforts that gives us the organization to shape and help build our boys to become upright men. To end an enjoyable even- ing Magie Ine. was there to fascinate the guests witb feats of magic. WiII1 consider use of hydro hot water A committee bas been- set up witb representation f rom the Region of Durham, the Town of Newcastle and Ont- ario Hydro to consider ways in whicb excess bot water from the proposed Darlington generating station may be used. Tbe committee is desig- ned to explore the possible uses of tbis beat whicb if not used will be pumped into Lake Ontario. At tbe last, meeting of council Mayor Rickard, Counc. J. Holliday and the town's planning director were appornted to tbe committee. It is not expected that bot water will be ready for use from tbe plant at least until 1985 and possibly 1986. It is expeeted to take some tbree years to formulate plans and come up with some users for the. excess bot water.
