Orono Weekly T'imes, Wednesday, June 7th, 1978-5 LT ALL H1APPENED AT THE PINES AT MUSIC NIGHT The Pines Senior Publie Sehool choir presented a number of fine selections at music night at the school. St. John and the Saints- Wednesday evening at the hamming it Up at the Pines evening of music and fun. The Senior Public School last group were well received by Talent on display at m-%luusic night Pines public school Shelley Gray, Orono, pre- sented a pleasing selection from the Sound of Music., Musical talent of individual students as well as groups was on display last Wednes- day evening at the Pines Senior Public School when the students presented instru- mental, vocal and dance numbers for their audiénce of parents and friends. The evening was welI attended with the audience being most receptive' to the works of'the young artîsts. The teachers at the school also took part in the program with some comedy routines which had the students over- joyed with their acts. Mr. St. John and the Saints excelled with their performance as did, Mrs. Whatley and the Willows when 'they took front centre on stage. The program was not only a musical event for the school but also a fun night for ail. Although performances may not have been letter perfect there was lots of evidence of an appreciation for music. Mlany of the instrumental numbers excelled in their tone and expression with vocal numbers being true in pitch and presented with a fine musical interpretation. The program included mostly numbers fromi the great shows of the past and not-so distant past. Instru- mentais included trumpet solos, saxophone solos, guitar solos and piano solos along with the Pines band perform- ing. Vocal solos added to the program as did selections by a sextet and the Pines choir and a disco dance routine.
