Mayor Rickard at a meeting on Monday night said he stili ha~d to make contacts in Orono before submitting names for the local committee. Not so long ago the hall almost met its doomn when a split vote was defeated which would have had the Town either seil the hall or tear it down. ORONO BEEF BARBECUE IN AUGUST The Orono and District Chamber of Commerce are holding their annual beef barbecue at the Orono Park o)n August l6th. ORONO CUBS DONATE TO ARENA FUND The First Orono Cub Pack hias donated a sum of $2,1.62 to the Orono Arena Fund being their collection during the past year. The Arena fund has now reached a total of $151,354 of which amnounit $94,262 has been in cash with $57,092 in pledges. The commiunity has slightly over two years to reach their total comnmitnient of around $260,000.00. Wintarîo matches every dollar subscribed through public donations wth a grant of $2.00. IT RAINED ALL AROUND A narrow strip through the Orono area missed a brief rainifall Saturday evening around 6: 00 to 6:30. A storm from the niorth cam~e as far south a-, Enterprise with a haif hour downpour whlle at the sam-e time or a littie later a storm from the south came as far north as the southera edge of Oronio dropping ramn for some ten minutes. Those living la Orono and just north 0f the Village were not affected by elther storm.
