ORONC NDP CLAIM DARLINGTON PLANT NOT NEEDED M\PP Donald MacDonald, NDP, York South, has rnade the dlaim that the Darlington Nulear generating plant now under construction is not needed to supply hydro elec- trîcity to residents of the province. He has been report- ed to say that Ontario Hydro now has a reserve generatîng capacity of sorne 44 percent, and that this will rise to at least 50 percent in the future. MacDonald has said in a news release that the surplus is being developed for export rather than for domestic use withinthe province. The hearings will be held in the Durham Memorial Temple on November 7,8,9, 15 and l6th. Similar- hearings will be held in Sudbury at the Holiday Inn frorn November 2lst to November 28th and in Blind River at the North Shore Friendship Inn on December 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13th. The hearîng times at al locations will be from 2 to 5 P.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m. The hearings are all open to the public.
