My grandmother was preparing supper for the gang so she sent ber twelve -year old daugbter out to the barn to start milking tbe twelve cows as it was getting dark. Her daugbter told me tbat sbe was getting so tired milking sbe thougbt she would bave to give up. Then one of tbe apple pickers wbo bad finished bis supper took pity on ber and came to belp. His name was Lorne Bel]. She was% 50 relieved to have hielp. Lorne Bell was a stranger to our neigbbourhood then but later, be married and moved to our area. He was the father of Mr. Clarence Bell.
