Several from here attended the Newtonville Poppy Day tea and bake sale on Saturday. Next Saturday Shiloh hold their bazaar on November l8th. This la the month. the schools study about the Pil- grim Fathers and the First Thanksgiving in America. One of the early families to come to Kendal was the Thomas Patterson Sr. family. They settled on the farm where Mr. Jack Carscadden now lives. Tbey were ship wrecked on the way over on the St. Lawrence River and, bast ail their household effects. They farmed sixteen years without a dlock. Ia the late faîl they often had a second breakfast while wait- ing for daylîght. They wanted to berea dy to leave for Port Hope market at daybreak. Mrs. Bruce Cathcart (Barb- ara) has been in Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto for several weeks following surgery. We understaad that next week she wili be permitted to go to ber sisters home in Toronto. In Oshawa Memorial Hospital is Sarah Buchanan the former Sadie Cathcart, sister of Don, Doug and Bruce of Kendal. She bas been in the Oshawa Hospital sînce the accident south of Orono on September 24tb witb a broken arm and ber leg is in traction. Her room is in 7113 G wing, 7tb floor, room 113. Kendal folks visiting in the bospital sbould cail on ber. Her grandson Michael Hartwick was also very seriously iajured and they are trying to teach him to talk again. Tbey cali it speecb therapy.
