Midgets active SPORTS Tie and win for.Tennant Fuel Atoms On Monday, November 2th the Tennant Fuel Atoms entertained the Uxbridge Atoins. The game ended in a 1-1 tie. The game featured some exciting plays and both teams had some good scoring chances. Paul Henry scored the Orono goal with an assist goimg to Steve Lycett. The line of Paul Henry, Steve Lycett and Vaughn Chambers played a solid gaine. The next night the Tennant Fuel Novemnber 21st - Orono 2, Cannington 0 On Tuesday eveming the O.M.H.A. Pee Wees traveiled to Cannington. The fîrst and second periods were scoreless with Orono goaltender Geoff, Green making many great saves to keep bis teain froin going behind on the scoreboard. In the third period Orono broke loose and scored to win the game 2-0. Goal scorers where Mike Bail from Stephen Mlurree and Steve Sawyer. Greg Vey froin Derek Muinford. Geoff Green jposted his first shutout of the year - a great gaine by ail. November 25 - Oshawa O, Orono Il Saturday evening Orono piayed host to the Oshawa Canadian Tire Red Wings froin the Little N.H.L. The gaine started with many end to end rushes with both goal tenders making great saves to keep their teams off the scoreboard. Finally with 5:42 left in the first Derek Muinford froin Atoms piayed an exhibition game aginst the Oshawa State Farm Canadians. Orono defeated Oshawa by a score of 2-0. Steve Lycett opened the scoring wîth a goal at 7:07 of the 2nd period, Paul Henry drew an assist on the goal. Scott Irwin scored the other Orono goal with an assist goîng to Jason Carleton. Chris Langford played a strong game i Orono goal whîle recording his first shutout. Murray Dennis scored the first goal. Orono neyer Iooked back froin this point. Goal scorers were: 1. Our boys got four unanswered goals in the first perio. Ross Stutt connected with Ken Prescott and Paul Reed to get the opener. Then defencemnan Paul Reddick blasted in Paul Reed's p4ssback. Ross Stutt got his second for the night slipping in the pass fromn Preston Long and Paul Reed. Then Pete Kruhkert finished the scoring in the first period with an unassisted goal. Paul Reed opened the scoring in the second period passing beautifully with his linemates, Ken Prescott and Ross Stutt. Pete Kruhkert got his second of the night from Paul Reed and Duane Major. Then Duane Major let a sizzler go frein- the point, passed back by Pete Kruhkert and Terry hedges for the first goal of the third period. The boyrs backed off and Sunderland scored to break the goalie Dan Barlows shut-out attempt. Then they' added two more to end the game Orono 7 to Sunderland 3. On November 2th, the Midgets travelled to Uxbridge. By game time, only nine players had showed up to face a strong Uxbridge teain. They got two goals in the first period and added three more in the second before Paul Reddick got us on the scoreboard, connecting %with Paul Reed and Peter Kruhkert. Uxbridge added four more as the Orono squad started to run out of steain. Duane Major got the opening goal in the third on a super drive froin the point passed back by Peter Kruhkert. Uxbrige then added four more to end the gaine. On Saturday, November 25th, the action switched to Pickering for an exhibition game. This game ended up with- Pickering getting nine goals to Oron's two. Ross Stutt tipped in Duane Majors shot and Paul IReed connected with Ross Stutt and Ken Prescott for the two Orono counters. On Sunday, the tearn travelled to Beaverton to play the first game this year with ail team members present. Beaver- ton opened the scoring in the first with two goals. Then Ken Prescott assisted by Paul Reed and Paul Reddick got Orono in the game. Jim Moffatt got the next goal, on a pass by Bob Myles and Jeff Westbrook. Beaverton had scored a goal before this and added another when Ken Prescott got an unassisted goal to end the first period. They got the only goal i the second period and added tw' more in the third before Ross Stutt and Paul Reed got the last goal of the gaine making it Beaverton 7 to Orono's 4. Fenelon Falls was in town for the weekly home gaine. The first period action was fast and end to end. Jin Moffatt got the opening goal from Paul Reed and Paul Reddick. Fenelon tied it up to end the first. Ross Stutt drove in a Paul Reed rebound to tie the gaine Up after Fenelon had scored in the second. Jim Moffatt took a beautiful pass at center ice from Paul Reddick to put hlm in the clear and he scored to go ahead. Then the Orono boys started to take stupd, unnecessary penalties, and they played the rest of the game short-handed. Fenelo scored the tieing goal and got the winner at 1.06 of the third. Dan Barlow played weli during the entire gamne between the pipes as well as Richard Robinson and AI Webster. The boys have got to remember to control their emotions during the game as well as immediately after but it would be nîce if they could get the odd break f rom the referees, especially when at home because it neyer happens when away.
