Saturday thse boys travelled to Pickering for an exhibition gaine but were beaten two to one. David Sheridan scored the only Orono goal. The boys were foiled by brilliant goaltending by the Pickering goalie. It was a good teain ef- fort in both gamnes. Well done boys. The first period saw Bobcaygeon cone up with the only goal of the period by Geoff Ingrain to go ahcad I-0. Iu the second period we saw Bobcaygeon go ahead 2-0 on a goal by Azdrew Camp- bell. Althoughs the local boys had some excellent scoring chances they had no luck around the Bobcaygeon net, The third period saw Bob- caygeon go up 3-0 before Stuart Irwin put one in for the local, boys to cut the margin to. 3-1, aisisted by Kevin Muinford sud Darren Lewis, with 6 minutes left in thse game Brad Roberts went on a clear cut breakaway only to be stopped cold by the Bobcaygeoni goalie. The local boys were goal hungry and completely dominated the gamne from start to finish, as the Red Wings simply could not get their gaine together. Orono Xoasted Minden for their first meeting o f the playoffs round robin, and came away with a big win. Minden opened the scoring and both teams traded goals to end up with a 3 ail tie at the end of the first period. Orono scored in the second and it stayed that way until the third. Minden scored again to tie it up at 4 alI belore Orono cut lose for 3 unanswered goals. Minden scored once more but by then it was too late. Orono fans were again treated to somne fine hockey action as the Tennant Fuels Atomns coasted to a 4 to 1 vie- tory over Bobcaygeon. Orono didn't waste anytime takin 7, the lead as Ted Gaudet scored an unassisted goal 12 seconds into the gamre. This game was a much dloser contest than the gamne played in Sunderland with Ise out cone not really being decided unitil the third period when Brian Goodwin scored his third goal of the gaine. Ted Gaudet assisted on Brian's first goal to gîve Orono a 1-0 lead mid-way through the Ist. period. That lead was short-lived as Sunderland came back a minute later to tie it up. Belore thse period 'ended however, we were back in the lead as Brian scored bis se- cond goal on an unassisted effort. There was no scoring in the second period despite Orono having a wide edge in play out shooting the opposi- tion 8 to 2. With rwo minutes gone in thse third period Brian finished off the hat trick with help fromn Todd Hutton and Laurens Kaldeway. Sunderland attempted a comn- eback closing to within one goal with four and one half minuted left in tIse gamne but Ted Gaudet scored in the final minute from Brian John Cowan assisted by Mark Sargent and Atlan Hall to put Orono on the board. The Orono boys were trying their best and they started the scoring early in the first period Mhen David ShmYr flipped the puck ovcr a SUrprised Port Hope goalie Ryan Rock and Sean McKenzie assisted on the play, The teams skated from end to end but were unable to score until 12:52 of the second period, David scored his second goal on a pass from Jean Paul Tousig- ~nant and Trevor Lomax. Seven Stadlemann and David Paynton-Stewart alternated in the Orono goal and kept Port Hope off the scoreboard until 13:45 of the second period. Port Hope scored again early in the third period to tie the game 2-2. Port Hope scored a third goal with only 8 minutes left in the garne. Next tyke game Saturday at 1:30 with Mllbrook coming to town. The Orono Old Timers took an easy 7-2 win over their visiting competition from Ottawa on Saturday at the Orono Arena. The local club followed this victory with a successful dance in thse evenîng at the Community Centre with a packçel house. There was a good turnout Of spectators for thse hockey game late in thse afternoon. Pete McCullough lead the attack for Orono with a hat trick scoring the first two opening goals of tIse gamre and following with 'his third early in thse third period. Other Orono goals were scored by Keith West, Denis Mumford, Bob Faulkner and Jimn Richard. Orono held Ottawa scoreless for thse first two periods.
