Anniversary of Kinette Clubs across Canada. During this time many Kinettes wll be celebrating 40 years of ser- vice and fellowship within their communities. In 1942, Kinsmien gave of- ficiaI recognitifon in making Kinettes an auxiliary. Mrs. Meriam Sheridan a member from Ottawa was the person who suggested the name ',Kinettes". During the war Kinettes worked oin the homne front assisting Kinsmpen with "Milk For Britian." In fact a total of' $126,145.00 was raised froxn the period of July 28th. 1943 to April 1944. Food parcels were packed for the boys overseas by mnany Kinette Clubs, Timinrs Kinettes adopted a sailor, while Peterborough Kinettes knit afghans for air raid shelters. Kinette Clubs in this area do a great deal of service work, ini their comrmunities. This year many clubs are holding Blood Donor Clinics, working with the Mentally Retarded and Handicapped. people: Senior Citizens, whether it is to be visiing or Bingo: Kinettes also are tak- ing on a new nation wide pro- gram with the Caniadian Diabetic Association. Sorme clubs are donating mnoney and mhany are promoting puiblic awareness in their communities. Internation Relations, Unitarian Services and the, Ronald McDonald House are just a few more of the projects that Kinettes support. Cystic Fibrosis is a major project in Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs. Many clubs hold dances, skate-a-thons, tag days to raise funds for C.F. Some clubs also send a C.F. Child to camp ai Lake Couchiching where the children have a C. F. pr ogram for a month in August. Kinet- tes also are there to assist their Kinsmen in any projects that they are asked to help with. Charter President Executive 1978, (back Jan Hyland, Connie Puk, row> Sue Davies, Judy Charlotte Anderson. row) Sandra Anderson, Madeleine Hadley, (front Reid, Rose Hartwig and Pub Night through the years Since the formation of the Great Pine, Ridge Finette Club in 1974, we have contributed to our com.munity in numerous ways: $2,500 donation to the Orono Arena Fund Raising, donations to Guides and Brownies, pathfinders, assisted 3-4 needy families each year at Christmas, sizeable dona- tions to Cystic Fibrosîs research, assisted Unitarian Services, assisted Blood Donor Clinics, Cancer and the Diabeties Society an-d have helped fire victims., In the past years we have made regular visita- tions to the nieighbouring nursing homes and have entertained our Sr. Citizens with Afternoons of Entertainmnent, sup- plied transportation to certain functions as well as Bingos, Monte Carlo Nights, Christmas Parties, Square Dancing and Carolling. These are just a few of the many projects in which Kinettes have tried to help in their commuini- ty. We are always in- terested in new challenges that may arise and need our assistance.
