High ligh ts Clarke High Sehool by Jim Deins17 If there was a group award- ed for showing outstanding ability iît would be the Big Brother s Association. 1 am sure everyone knows ail about thie association and the services they provide. 1 was a little brotlher once and would like to share with you my opinion on what Big Brothers is all about. It is a group'of volunteers matchîng up a man and a boy on a one to one basis. They are a group of people who care and do get results fromr what they do. Once the boy is matched up wth a Big Brother the association does not step out. They che-ck up on the relationiship to make sure both parties are benefliting. The child is not the only person whio benefits fromn this match. The Big Brothier also learns things and gets the warmn feeling inside that one gets w ýhen they help someone. On the miost part the boys, gets *he Most-out of it. He is taken away from being loved only by a mother. The boy does not reflect on his Big Brother as a father, but as a good friend. A friend that is easy to talk to; a friend that wîll neyer turn against you; a friend who really cares and a friend that will do his best to see that bis little brother is happy and just. My Big Brother taught me many things. At the time, I did not- understand everything he said and did, but as 1 grew older everything felI into place. The days my Big Brother and 1 spent together will neyer be forgotten. He made mne feel impdrtant and like a real person not just a kid. My Big Brother and 1 are no longer together. We have not lost our friendship. He is always there when 1 need so-. meone. AIl in ail, the Big Brothers Association is, a fantastic group and worthy of more public support.
