The score re- mained that way until the 3:57 mark when Brian Good- win came through as he has done so many times this season with a clutch goal ty- ing the score and sending the game into overtime. BNaine Souch and Todd Gray assisted on Brian's goal. We had our chances in overtime but Ajax was not be denied as Kevin Weese scored endîng our quest for the Consolation Championship. If it makes you feel any better guys the two teams that beat you end- ed tnp winning the "A" and "B" Championships respec- tively. With the tournament biehind us al the guys had to play for in the next two ex- hibition, games was their pride and play they did. On Saturday, March 27th. we entertained a teamn fromn Pickering who had beaten us rather convîncingly when we played, themn earlier in the season. We weren't to be denied this time however as the boys skated to a 5-4 vic- tory. Todd Thertell was the big shooter for Orono as he scored the first three Orono goals enroute to his hat trick. 1 hope your dad bought you the hat he promnised. It was Jason Burnham who set Todd up for the ist. goal as he relayed Ted Gaudet's pass- to Todd in front of the net for the score just as the lst.' period drew to a close. In the second period Pickering tied the score only to have Mn. Thentell Jr. put us back in the lead from Ted Gaudet and Brian Rodd. Not ready to give up yet Pickering again tied it as the 2nd. period drew to a close. With two minutes gone in the 3rd. period Todd came through agaîni putting us in the lead to stay assisted by Ted Gaudet. Ted then got tired of setting tnp othen peo- pIe and decided to score two goals of his own. The first assisted by Todd Thertell and the second fromn Jason Bun- nhan and Todd Gray. In the last two minutes of play Mike Goodmnurphy who played a great gamne in goal decided to ease tnp a little to, make Pickering feel betten allowving them 2 goals. The final was Orono 5 and Pickering 4. The final gaine of the ~season was played on March 28th. against Whitby- Bnooklîn Pitt Steel. The best we had been able te do against themn in 3 previous en- counitens was a tie. Hlowever, tonight was to be diffenent as the good guys from Onono emenged 4 to 2 victors. Bian Goodwin got things started with help from Bian Rodd and Doug Bedford. The score nemained the same until the last minute of the first period when the goals came fast and funious. Finst Ted Gaudet put Orono up by two. Then Bnooklin scored, then Gaudet got that one back assisted by Todd Therteli to make it 3 to 1 Onono. The second peiod saw Whitby-Bnooklin close to within one goal but Brian Goodwin iced the gamne for Orono late in the third from Brian Rodd and Todd Gnay. It w as great to end the season on a winning note. I hope the membens of the team hiad some fun this year and learn- ed somne hockey. T ennant Fuel A toms close*out.season This past week was a busy one for the Tennant Fuels Atoms starting on Tuesday, March 23nd. This game was a tune up for the Bowmanville Atomn Tounnament against our neighbours fnom Newcas- tle. It was also a chance for us to nevenge the defeat Ncwcas- tle had handed us the week befone. The game started slowly with each teamn failing to convert their sconing chances. Finally with 5:31 left in the second period Brian Goodwin put Orono on the board fnomn Blaine Souch and Todd Gray. That goal kept Orono in the lead until mnid- way through the third period as Darryl Burke tied the gamne for Newcastle with an unassisted effort. However, flot be be denied the role fo star of the gamne Brian Good- win came rigbt back 13 seconds later to score agaîn putting Orono in front to stay. Anthony Webb and Doug Bedford drew assists. The final score was Orono 2 and Newcastle 1. Thursday, March 25th. Marked the effort of the Bowmanville Atomn Tourna- ment we had been preparing for. In the first gaine we played a team from Sarniae who dashed any hopes we had of being "A" Champs as a great game in gýoal for Orono and Darren Dennis played well on defence. Congratulations to, Peter- borough for winning the "A" Championship and to the 1-.0..F. Peewees for winning the "A" runnerup.
