INVITED TOI SPORT AWARDS DINNER Milan Popadichl, RR. 2 Orono who was a gold miedai winner in the Suirmmer Olymiipics at Thunder Bay in thec Decathalon was a guest at the l5th annual Provini- cial Sports Award dinner h1eld at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto on May 7th. SAVIOURS TO BUILD NEW PARISH HALL On Sunday the final decision was made by the congton of St. Sav'iour's' Anglican church to pro- ceed with thie cons-,trujction of a new Parish Hall. Cowman askecl if staff wouid be consulting with the Museum Boards Orono Questions soid removal In a letter to the Town of Newcastle couacil Gord Lowery of the Orono Amateur Athletic Associa- tion questions the wisdomn of removiaig sod fromn the south bail dianiond at the Orono Park as proposed in the budget for 1982. Lowery states the removal of the sod is very uaaecessary and a waste ofmonies. 1t was pointed out to coun- cil that many sports are played on a sod grounds and there should be no danger as to injury piaying bail on sod. Lowery further points out that the south end of the Orono Park had been ddesign- ed to bce used for soccer but due to the use of the grounds for bail and LOBB bail there neyer was time for soccer at this location. Lowery points out that the Orono Amateur Athletic Association administers, al mi nor summer and winter sports in Orono and as well work closely with the Orono Figure Skating Club.
