Orono Weekly Group join Orono Girl -Guides Pictured above are a group of new guides who last week joined the Orono Girl Guides. after having been members of Track and Field Day was cancelled on Tuesday, May 4th, 'and regular classes took its place due to the ainount of participation of students who signed up for events. The Senior Girls Soccer Tea m has been battling away during many practices this soccer season. Many games have been scheduled during the upcoming week, SO lets have a large crowd of students watching and cheer- ing their school team onf!! A great turnout on Wednesday, May 5th ap- peared at the Blood Donor's Clinic which was at Bowman- ville High School from 1:00 - 8:30 p.m. Clarke High School had thirty-one students give blood on this day, and al lived to be proud of their donations. It is pointed out that Jerry Miller has presently donated blood for' his seventh time, -Bob Veldhuis and Steve Lawrence six times, Janice Munroe and Dave Duncan five times. On Wednesday, May l2th at 4:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria, the co-operative Éducation Department in- vites Co-op employers and Co-op Students to "Ap- preciation Hour!" This hour is specially designed for everyone fromn the Co-op placements who made Clarke's Co-op Programn very essentia and also a beneficial success. Although the pro- grami is not finished yet for this school year 1 feel nows as good a'time as any to send the Co-op Students' of Clarkes' appreciation to Mrs. Eva Nichols, Mrs. Rita Carlson, Mr. Steve Truelove, and also Mr. Tom Jackson for their confidence and support throughout the school year for making the program run smoothly. On Friday, May 14 the four provincial parks in Lind- say District open for the 1982 Ganaraska holding wildflower walk On Saturday, May 15, 1982, the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is welcoming the public to par- ticipate in an Interpretive Wildflower Walk. The after- noon hike will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Ganaraska Forest Centre and will consist of an informative two hour hike. After a brief welcome visitors will be led through various natural habitats found close to the Ganaraska Forest Centre. Participants will be introduced to many of our common spring flowers and the use of several iden- tification 'key-systems. You are encouraged to bring your own guides and keys in order to become more fgrniliar with their use. We intend this event to be a time when peo- ple will share information on wldflowers and simply enjoy the splendor of springtime. A sample of wild edibles will be available for your enjoyment at the completion of the walking tour. It is recommended that those attending the walk wear comfortable footwear and long pants in case of contact with poison ivy. In the event of inclement weather, this programt will be scheduled for, Sunday, May 16 at the same time. For. further information, season.
