That was the, Orono Fair 1982 held Thurs- day evening through to late Sunday afternoon last week. Attendance surpassed last year for every afternoon and evening with the exception of Friday evcning where atten- dance was down slightly to that of 1981. Total gate receipts amounted to $24,000 compared with a figure slightly under $20,000.00 i 1981. Everyone spoke of the suc- cess of the annual promotion in Orono with features of ini- terest for cveryone ranging from a demnolition derby to exhibits of farm produce, crafts, home baking, art, amateur contests and musical shows. ORONO ESTATES PATHWAY FENCED The Town of Newcastle has completed the fenc- ing of the south pedestrain walkway between the Village* proper and the Orono Estates sub-division with a chain- link fence. It is understood that it is now the intention of the Town to asphaît the walkway this 'fall providing the cost cornes within the budget target for the total project. ORONO FIRE HALL CONFIDENTIAL REPORT The General Purpose Commîittee of the'Town of Newcastle received a confidential report on MI.orday as to the Orono Fire Hall. Although Councs. Hamnre and Pr-out asked that the report be received in open meeting it was held in camnera. The Town hias been considering the future of the location of the Orono-departmnent ither through repairs of the present building or with relocation in the former Orono Hydro Building. Consideration, somnetime ago, lead to an investigation of possible new sites outside the perimeters of the Police Village. No report came out of the fn-Camera meeting.
