They won ail four games to take the "A" chamn- pionship. Teamns were represented from the local area, Bowmanville and Oshawa, totalling twenty. As well, the previous week-end, the New Dutch Oven camne second in the Little Britain Rejects Slow Pitch Old Timers Tournamrent. There were twenty-four teamns here fromn local towns, Lindsay, Peterborough, Oshawa, Richmond Hill and Scar- borough. This was the first time the local tearn has played in an Old Timers tour- nament. They won seven of their nine games, losing the final gamne to the Pleasant Point Eagles. Member of the teamn were Bob O'Neill, Pete Mlaartense, John Witheridge, Grant Yeo, Garry Eames, Bill Hansen, Steve West, Pete Me- Cullough, Brian Allin, Stan Green, Tom Moffat, Dean Cox, David Staples, Mark Mercer, Gary Cox, Don Mercer, Bruce MacDonald, Kelly Lane, Gary Cooper, Jerry Garnett. The New Dutch Oven team has had their most suc- cessful year to date. They have also won tournamnents ini Orono and Sunderland, plac- ed second in Peterborough, thi-d in St. Catharines, and fourth in Oshawa. On Sept. 17-18, they wil represent the are a1 in the On- tario Amnateur Slow Pitch Association Class "D" Championships held in Unionville. They won this ti- tic last year in Collingwood. Good Luck Fellows! Orono PeeWees up- for soccer finals On Sept. 1, Orono defeated Tyrone by a score of 2 to 1. Paul Henry's fine ef- fort put Orono on top for most of the game. Tyrone evened the score haif way through the second half. Both teamns were playing ex- cellent soccer and it looked as if the gamne would end in a die until Robert Klepac scored with a fe-w minutes left. On Sept. 8 Newcastle outplayed Orono in the first half and led 1 to O. Orono's play left a lot to be desired. The team play was not that of a week ago. Paul Henry out ran the Newcastle defense to score 2 goals to win the game 2 to L.
