However, Klose has polisb- cd his trainingi skills and bas taken up tbe responsibility of training two lions, two cougars, and one tiger. Klose and is wife Christa, and their two sons ail reside in a large white stucco bouse close to the Haveberg Kennels. By: M. Kar LewIns Just over a year ago, Klost bouglit a lion cub wbich lie immediately started to train; witb some difficulty. However, being ofEuropean descent, Klose was not about to give -up easily and soon the lion cub, Pasha, was respon- ding. Pasha is now over a year old and Kose bas been suc- cessful in keeping control of bim. Pasha is OecIawed and, relatively same, but Kiose usuaîîy keeps a 2 ft. lengtb stick bandy when lie is witb Pasba. Pasha is quite playful and often tries to, get around Klose; if he ever does chances are Wolfram Klose wilI be wearing a natural ion's mane tie Wilson and Dorothy Bailey complete their dinner with tea. on bis back. Pasha' appears in a lion safari commercial for Domi- nion Grocery Store and was also the-main attraction dur- ing the Peterborough Safari Days. As well as thîs Pasha has been involved in Fairweather promotional ac- tivities. After becoming successful witb Pasha Klose bought two 3 montb old cougars, Boris and Verushka. Like Pasha, they too have been declawed. Boris and Verushka presently reside in a spacious dog ken- nel adjoined to the Klose's home. These two little devils are as playful as Pasha and Klose often sets themn free to stretclh their legs and wrestle with each other. However, one lion and two cougars weren't enough for Klose and he soon found reason to buy two more cats. To keep Pasha company, Klose bouglit one 4 montb old Tiger, Contessa, and one 4 month old lion, Delilah. Contessa and Delilali now share residence witb Pashia but neither are very friendly with him. They steal his toy- (a car tire) and spit and hiss whenever he contes near. Even tough Contessa and Delilah are much smaller than, Pasha the two young girls have an advantage since both have their claws intact. Kiose feeds his cat once in the morning and once ini the evening. Klose said be keeps food in the cats stomacli aIl the time by maintaining a consistent feeding routine, and th.ci by ensuring that the cats don't become annoyed with him. Althougli this feéding system has its advan- taies there is one drawback. Klose feeds tbe cats fresh frozen beef, supplemented with calcium and other vitamins and mineraIs. When ail the cats are mature, Kiose wiII have to unthaw approx- imately 100lbs. of beef every- day.
