Riokard Mayor Town of Newcastle Dale of P ublica t ion: November 3rd 1982. Fil1e N o. 10. 2.11. First of ail we are not about to hold our breath while Joey turfs you off the throne and I imagine spend sleepiess nights pacing the floor te devise a scheme. Give him credit, though, he neyer cracks a smiie when an- nouncing his intentions. And what about Senator Davey. He gave a real right upper cut "te the news media in a recent address in Toronto. "Silly asses" we are. I have te agree with him and the Senator did prove his point or at ieast the newsies proved it for him. The next TV news report car- ried his jab as a feature and the Toronto Star used bold type on the front page. Nothing about the rest of his ad- dress .. .just that right upper cut. Ed got some good news coverage with the NDP recovery program proposai. People are looking for this with the exception of the Parrot and his posties who now dlaim Broadben't sounds like you. The question is does t hat put you left of centre with Ed or Ed right of centre with you. We wiil let Davey -siliy asses" figure that one eut. SWeil Pierre enough chit-chat. Now te the real purpose of this letter. No doubt you have by now read my celumn from Around Home in the Orono limes last week when I made a reiationship between your problem on the hili and mine in the chicken house and the use of your scheme te take MiY problem to the people. I'm happy te report that 1 met with great success and have a long term agreement te look after similar in-, stances in the future. In fact the plea was oversubscrib- ed. The reesters are gone and ail is normai in the hen house for'the time being. 1 had visions of having to take the bull by the horns or as I should say the roosters by the neck and use the axe I had sharpened down at Pete Mercers. (Incidentaiiy I understand Petehas good vibs for the party.) It would then have been a matter of getting the bioc-k in place, closing my eyes and swinging. Happily this did not happen. Aiex Moffat with whomn 1 have entered into agreement did say there was a di f- ference between you and 1. "You are giving nothing away while I am." Be patient Pierre youmay weil succeed. At least you will have a breathing period with Joe turkey-trotting around the bedroom, Eddie fighting with the Parrot and Davey with the newsies cornered. Yours for a chuckle. Roy.
