Peewees opened their season with 4-4 tie against Omnemee. The local boys came out flying and with only 17 seconds gone in the game Stuart Irwin put the local boys ahead 1-0 with' Kevin Mumford coming up with the assist. Brian Good- win made it 2-0 with assists going to Ted Gaudet and Brent Hutton. The local boys kept pouring on the pressure and Brian Goodwin camne up with hîs second goal of the game to up the count to 3-0, with assists going to Patrick Woods and David Bailey. The second period saw Omemee comne up wth the onfly goal of the period an unassisted effort by Teddy Paish. The third period saw Orono up the counit to 4-1 on a goal by Brian Hill assisted by Stuart Irwin. The local boys then seem to lose their legs and quit skating and saw their win turn into a tie as Omemee carne up with three unanswered goals in the last 6 minutes to end the game 4-4. Omono 3 Oshawa Bruins 1 On Sunday, November 7, 1982'the Matthews and Hili Ins. O.M.H.A. Peewees travelled to the Oshawa Children's Arena to play the L.N,H.L. Major Bruins and came up with a super effort I I and came away with a well_ earned 3-1 win, The first two periods were scoreless with excellent end to end action and super goalten- ding at both ends. The third period saw Oshawa open the scoring on the goal by Sean Lynde assisted by Mark Perry at the 13:21 mark. Orono camne right back at 10:19 to tie the game on a goal by Brian Hill assisted by Stuart Irwin and Kevin Mum- ford. Orono kept the pressure on and at 7:23 Brian Goodwin put the local boys ahead 2-1 with assists going to Patrick Woods and Ted Gaudet. With 4:47 left in the game Stuart Irwin put the game away with some excefllent se- cond effortassisted by Brian 1Hi1. Final score Orono 3 and Oshawa 1. Super Teavi Ef- fort Guys! Win and a tie for I.OOF. PeeWees The 1.0.O.F, Peewees got first period. Derelk Zander off to a good start this opened the scoring for O--rono season! On Wednesday, Nov. 3rd they traveled to Omnee for their first gaine of the season winning it 6-4. They played Manvers on Frida>', Nov. 5th in Orono and they mnanaged 1 3-3 tie. There was no scoring in the assisted by Gioran Zager and Richard Bowmester. Manvers came back with two goals the first being from Davi d Thomkins assisted by Richard Jeffery and Kris Pollack. The second was f romn Danny Stone assisted by Randy Gaynor. Then Derek S"tutt Bantams in best winning form Thursday, November 4th, Stutts Bantams played their first league game in Newcas- tle. The first period was very exciting with Orono pulling ahead 3-0. The first goal was scored by Keith Vey, assisted by Paul Hienry. RichI -e Dupe assisted on the second goal, scored by Paul Henry. Then Paul Henry scored unassisted. Orono slowed down in the seconid period allowing Newcastle to score 2 goals., but came back in the third period with two more goals. Rodney Storesbergen scored assisted by Jhm Wood, then Brad Roberts put one in, assisted by Shawýn Bailey br- inging the final score to a 5-2 win for Orono. The second league gamne Zander tied the game 2-2 assists going to Tim Baile>' and Aaron Snyder. But again Manvers went out front with a goal fromn Danny Stone unassisted. It looked like Manvers had a win but Orono kept trying and it paid off at the 14:03 mark of the third period when Brent Stapleton tied the gaine assisted by Todd Thertell and Tim Bailey. Keep up the great work guys! for Stutts Bantamns a played in Orono, on Satur- day, November 6th against OPS. It was a very fast gaine, with both teamis playîng well. Ops opened the scoring but Orono soon camne back with Paul Henry scoring assisted by Richie Dupec. Paul scored unassisted to bring the final score to 2-1 for Orono. All the boys played well, especially goalie Allan Hall, who had his work cut out for him stopping the mnany shots at the Orono net. (Continued page 5) Tennant Atoms up with two wins The boys opened ,the regular league play in Manvers on Friday night. The first period saw Manvers get the only goal. The Orono Fuelers owned the second period with three unanswered goals. Anthony Webb camne to play, popping in thre goals, for a hat trick, putting the team ahead by a score of three to one. Assisting on these goals were Kevin Roberts, Jason Brachvogel, Brent Osmond, Todd Gray and Jeff Hartwig. Mike Goodmurphy made several key saves during the game and held off Manvers in the goal tencling job-to just one goal in the third period. This gave Orono the win b>' a 3 to 2 count. On Saturday, the Atoms opened their home schiedule with Ops in town. The first period saw plenty of action in both ends, but no scoring. Anthony Webb got the job welI done, slipping in a beautiful pass fromn Jason Burnham. Then Blaine So uch banged in his own rebound, passed by David Sheridan .and Brian Rodd. Anthony deked the goalie for the third couniter, this one from Kevin Roberts and Jason Brachvogel. T'odd Gray' made a fine defencemnan's rush, tîp- ped it ini for the fourth se- cond period goal, working well with Anthony Webb and Jason Major. The third period saw the Orono tearn get their last goal of the game, this one off the stick of Kevin Roberts, from An- thony Webb and Todd Gray'. Mike Goodmnurphy picked up his first shut-out of the early season, with excellent goal tending to give Orono the win 5-0. The Fuelers travel to Bobcaygeon on Tuesday night and will be in action in Orono on Saturda>' at 7:00 p.m. against Millbrook - Don't Miss It! Hlamlilton M"idgets Win ail the way Nov. 7 - Orono 4 Opa 3 Orono travelled to Ops' Township on Sunda>' evening for an Exhibition game with the local mnidget tearn. Ops opened the scoring firing three past starting goal tender Dino Medd who got ittle support from his team mates. In thse second period the Orono boys kept plugging away got back three goals to tie tIse score. ln thse third period Steve Cylnes scored the winnting goal 'wth oi'ily 4 min. left in the gamte assists going to Steve Murree and Mike Hamel. Geoff Green played i goal for the Iast half of the ganie shutting out the Ops teani. It was a good coin- eback win. The local boys. scored early - 24 seconds of the first period and neyer looked back. Goal tenders Geoff Green and Dino Medd played well having trouble with onl>' two shots.
