My grandfather met an old lady. She asked bim to get her furniture that she bad buried in the field so the Germans would flot get her furniture. So my grandfather got ber furniture and the old lady gave him an egg. Thats why we have Remembrance Diay to remembeý,r tbe people wbio got kfled. Remembrance Day is on the 11lth day of November. Queen's Park Re: MginstrY of Government Services Involvement in Durham Region 0f aIl tbe Government Mfinistries, tbe Minîstry of Government Services (MOS) bas probably tbe most diver- sified responsibility and yet it is the one people generally know least about. While it is truc that the Ministry is very mucb involv- cd in looking aftcr tbe government's internaI necds by providing an enire range of services from housekcep- ing to administering public services employees' payroll and pensions, it does bave a rote outside Queen's Park. One o1f its major respon- sibilities is as landiord of On- tario's vast accommodation and land holdings. In the Durbam, Region, MOGS is in- volved, witb the new Ontario Government Building in Osbawa, the new Oshawa Court House and the Pine Ridge School in Bowman- ville. Located on a two-acres site bounded by King, Centre and Athol Streets, the Ontario Government building is ex- pectcd to be complcted at the end of January, at wbicb tinie, the Ministry of Revenue will occupy the building. The re-location of the Mianistry of Revenue's bead office to the City of Oshawa is part of the provincial government,'s decentralization policy. The transfer of portions of the province's general ad- ministrative operations to points east of Metropolitani Toronto is designcd to create economic stimulus to the area tbrougb job creation, and tbe direct infusion of government spe-nding in the arca. As well as being responsi- bIc for the design and con- struction of the building, MOS will also carry out operation and maintenance functions, once it is oc- cupied. The province will lease back the comrpleted building from the developer for a period of 25 years, after wbicb it becomnes the proper- ty of the province. Oshawa's new court bouse which is expected to be com- pteted in February 1983 with occupancy anticipated for March, is anotber building witb which MOS is involved. It bias entered into a lease agreement witb tbe owner of the building for use of the court bouse facilities by the Ministry of the Attorney General. Tbe single storey structure wbicb will bouse the criminal division of the Provincial Court in the City of Oshawa, will bave a rentable area of approximately 21 ,000 square feet. It will contain four cour- trooms, offices for judges and crown attornecys, ad- ministrative areas and sup- port facilities, a library, document storage, interview rooms and prisoner holding areas. Parking for 52 cars will aIso be provided. Unlike the Revenue Building and the Court IH9use, the Pine Ridge Train- ing School property bias been under the MGS wing for a numnber of years.
