Peewees travelled to Newcastle for a return engagement witb their arcb -rivais. The first period saw Orono open the scoring on a goal by Laurens Kaldeway assisted by Brian Goodwin only to sec Newcastle corne right back to tie the gane 1-1 on a goal by Glen Kelsb. The second Period saw the Newcastle Club come up witb tLwo unassisted goals by Wîilie McGarvie and Glen Kelsb witb bis second of the gaine as the local boys could sirnply not get their gaine together. In the third period Newcastle uppcd the score to 4-1 as Willie McGarvie came up with bis second of the gaine. With six minutes left in the gaine the Orono Club finally put the score to 4-3 but could not come up with the equalizer before time ranf out. Manvers won the gamne scor- ing two late third period goals by Jeff Adams unassisted and Randy Gaynor unassisted. On Friday, November 26 Orono hosted Omemce, Omemee winning the gamne 4-1. Orono scored the first goal. Scoring was Todd Therteil with an aisist going to Trevor Bogdanow. Ornemee tied the gaine at 1-1 with a goal from Jeff Banas assisted by Bryan Brooks and Dave Meyer. The third period saw the local boys come up with the only goal in another well played entertaining period of hockey by both teams as Brent Hut- ton came up with bis second of the night assisted by David Bailey and Ted Gaudet. We hope these boys will not give up because of sucb great losses but wil come back for more great hockey. The Orono Juveniles travelled to Ops where a hard fought game resulted in a 2-1 loss. Orono scored its only goal in the third period. Getting the goal was Ted Oster assisted by Scott Prescott and Mike Hamel. Playing a strong gaine in net for Orono was Geoff Green. Lindsay travelled to Orono where a shoot out resulted in a 7-5 loss for Orono. Orono scored their first goal in the first period. Steve Stec scored assisted by Scott Richards. Orono scored their second goal in the second perîod w hen they werc awarded a penalty shot. Mike Hamel put this one into the Lindsay net. Orono scored three straight goals in the third period but Orono couldn't corne up with anymore and the game ended 7-5. Point getters were: Glen Jenkins assisted by Scott Richards, Paul King assisted by Mike Hamnel, Ted Oster unassisted. Orono plays its next home game Tuesday at 8:30 against Cobourg. Orono Tykes win over neighboing Newcastle It wai a good fait skating game witb lots of scoring chances on botb sides with about 10 seconds remaining in the gaine the Orono goalie, playing gdjal for the first turne, Cbad Martense, made a great save to save the win for bis teain. Orano scorers were Christopher Yeo 5 goals and Jean Paul Tousignant 2 goals. Assists 'went to: Brian Good 2, Henry Kaldeway 2, Branden Ovenden 2, and Aaron Staples 1. Jade garden seniors take first of the hockey season Orono Jade Gardens- bosted Newcastle Forum Oldtimers on Sunday the 28th and came away with their first win of the season by a 6-5 score. Newcastle came out strongin the'iirst period jumping out to a 2-9 lead on- ly to have the Jade Garden Seniors fight back on goals by Gartb Webb aisisted by Jim Souch and Dave Shetler and a goal by Jim Conndl aisisted by AI Hill. Newcastle struck back te make the score 3-2 with John Cartwright tied it aisisted by Jim Wood and Kerry Arnott. Newcastle pull- ed ahead 4-3 only to have Jade Garden strike for 3 goals to give them a 6-4 lead. Scoring for Orono were John Cartwright from Ray Melville and Kerry Arnott, Jim Woods unaisisted and Ray Melville from Rbn Farrow and Jim Grey. Newcastle nar- rowed the score to 6-5 but* .and Anthony Webb. Todd Gray got a bat trick! His third goal was passed alonig by Kevin Roberts. This gave the boys a 5 to i lcad with just 2:52 remnaining in the gaine. Final score ended with Orono 5 to Bobcaygeons 4. 1 guess everybody went to sleep to play their major Atom team. The Fuelers camne out flying as tbey took a two goal lead in the early part of the period. Anthony Webb was in fine form scoring first from J.B. Bracbvogel and Blaine Souch. His second goal caught the goalie off guard on bis stick side from Brian Rodd and J.B. again. Then the Wbitby teain came àlive. They puniped 12 by Mike in goal, as the boys ail played well, but were over- powered by Whitby's strengtb. Blaine Souch scored a beautiful goal on a well passed play with Todd Gray and Anthony Webb for the only other Orono goal. Final score 12 to 3 for Whitby- Brooklin. A fine effort by the Orono boys. Ncxt gaine Saturday night, with Manvers in town at 7:00 p.m. v The O.M.H.A. Atoms had their weekly gaine in Orono on Saturday night with Bob- caygeon in town. A much im- proved teain froin 3 weeks ago when the Fuelers handled thein easily. The first period action saw no scoring, as both goal tenders kicked everything out. Mike Good- murphy between the Orono pipes, played exceptionally wellfor most of the gaine, cx- cept for a short pcriod in the third period when bis teain in front of him also saw trouble. Todd Gray opened the scor- ing, ripping in a high corner shot, passed along well by Anthony Webb and Jason Burnham. After Caygeon tied it up, minutes later, Todd added another, th3s time banging in Brian Rodd and David Sheridan's re- bound. The boys got hot then, and pushed tbree mnore past Bobcaygeon to take a comfortable lead. Anthony Webb diked the goalie nicely, slipping in from Brent Os- mond and Jason Major. Then seconds later, Jeff Hartwig banged in a, loose puck, picking up assists on the play were Jason Burnham scoring assisted by Paul Henry. Tbcn- Jim Wood scored on a passfrom David 'LaFrance. In the second period Scott McCullough put one in assisted by Brad Roberts and Scott Greenfield. Paul Henry scored fromt Peter Armstrong and Keith Vey and Peter Armstrong got bis second of the game assisted by Paul Henry. Manvers finally managed to, score but Richie, Dupe came back with another goal from Peter Armstrong and Paul Henry. Manvers came out strong in the third period scoring the first goal but Orono came rigbt back with a goal by Paul Henry aisistcd by Peter Arn- strong and Eric Dreslinski. Manvàrs scored again but Or- ono put in 2 more in the lait 2 minutes of the gamne. David LaFrance from Rod Storsbergen and Jin Wood and Jin Wood froin David LaFrance and Rod Storsbergen for a final score of 9-3. itanis win Ilton jientry up witb a tic 5-5. PeeWees look for home support Fridays O .M.Hx.A. Bantais tie Bewdley, bomb Manvers On Monday, Nov. 22nd Orono travelled to Bewdley. The first period was scoreless, although botb teams fought bard to get the first goal. In the second period, Bewdley took the ad- vantage with the first goal of the game but Paul Henry soon tied it Up assisted by Peter Armstrong and Richie Dupe. Minutes into the third period Orono pulled ahead with a goal by Darren Lewis, fromt Brad Roberts and Scott McCullough. However, Bewdley came right back with 2 quick goals and they were trailind again. They didn't give up but tied it up agaln witb a goal by Brad Roberts assisted by Keith Vey and Scott McCullough. The rest of the period was scoreless endinig in a 3-3 tie. On Saturday, Nov. 27tb Orono played Manvers on home ice. Oronto dominated the game from the start. Peter'Armstrong opened the Kisren 1Baui" over Canning On Nov. l7tb Orono bosted Cannington for their first league game of the season defeating themn 7-2. Todd Mercer assisted by Dar- ren Dennis put Orono on the board at the 6:24 mark of the first period. Brian Soucb assisted by Derek Anderson and Chris Richards. Cann- ingtons Davie Spencer assisted by Gary Es#Aick to make the game 2-1 end of Steve Lycctt scorcd assisted by Tim Mercer and Darren Dennis.
