Bissonette has worked part time at Sàdbury Downs in various positions for the last seven yéars, most recently as a judge's secretary for the Canadian Trotting Associa- tions (CTA). A horse lover al her life, she broke in her first horse wýith ber sister at age 12. She will work for two weeks on race nights as an associate judge, then two weeks in her current position at the track for the C.T.A. In addition Bissonette is employed fuil- time as a computer operator at a local printing company and will continue to work towards becomin g a chartered account- ant through night school. Beverley Russell is sucre- tary W the mayor of Onaping Falls and an eight year veteran as a part time C.T.A. representative at Sudbury Downs. "As a horse lover it's exciting to be appointed to this kind of responsible position," she said. "Being a judge is an important job with a lot at stake but I don't feel any extra pressure will be placed on me just because I'm a woman." Russoell and Bissonette were chosen from among 70 appli- cants for the two openings. The Ontario Racing Commis- sion regards the' position of judge as a high stress position requiring an experielnced per- son who can miake important decisions quickly. An on-the- job training program, which ià given to ail jduges, wiil con- tinue until the end of Nlovem- ber. There are now 33 racing judges employed by the com- mission, 21 of them full time.
