The boys were to dorninate ai three gaines as they blew the opposition away 11-1 over Oshawa Kingside Park, 14-O over Oshawa Eastvie-w Park and 12-O over Uxbridge Select.s. AHl the boys played excellent hockey with great tean play by all. Newcastle Tournamnent Friday, December 3th, saw the local boys participate in the Newcastle Tournia- ment. The first gaine saw' thein corne up against a deter- mined Millbrook. Score Oronio 4 - Mllbrook 3. The first period saw Millbrook go ahead 2-0 before the local boys founid their legs. Rient Hutton put one in froin the point to cut the margin to 2-1 with Stuart Irwin and Darren Lewis assisting. The second period saw the Stutt's Rantains apply con- tinuous pressure and coine up with two unanswered goalsto put thein ahead 3-2. Scoring for Orono were Steven Lycett assisted by Kevin Hartwig and Scott McCullough, then Kevin Hartwig assisted by Scott McCullough andBrad Roberts. The third period saw Robert, Snoek assisted by Kevin Mumford put the local boys ahead 4-2, with 4:47 left in the game Millbrook cut the score to 4-3 but could not corne up with the tying goal as Orono held on for the last 1:17 playing a inan short - Excellent Corne Rack Guys!! Orono 4 - Bowmanville Toros 0 The second garie saw the local boys corne up agalnst a hot Rowmanville club and onfly soine excellent goalten- ding by Jeff Martin kept Rowinanville off the scoresheet. The first period saw Kevin Hartwig open the scoring after only 0:13 seconds assisted by Scott McCullough and Rrad Roberts to put the local boys ahead 1-0. This goal was to stand up until on- !y 0:23 seconds left in the se- cond period when Brad Roberts upped the count to 2-0 with assists going to Kevin Hartwig and Shawn Bailey. The third period saw both teains play end-to-end action packed hockey, then with 2:03 left in the gaine Rowmnanville took 4 con- secutive, penalties through frustration and the local boys took advantage with, two power play goals to end the gaine 4-0 in favour of Orono. Orono 2 Oshawa Storie Park 4 The third gaine saw a tired Stutt's club, playing their sixth gaine in two days corne up against an excellent Storie Park club froni Oshawa who ended the Stutt's Rantains winning streak at 24 con- secutive gaines. Although the local boys gave it everything they had, they fell juist short and settled as runiners Up, with each boy receivng a inedallion and a keeper pla- que for the teani. Scoring the Orono goals were: Rrad Roberts - unassisted, Kevin Hartwig assistedi by Rrad Roberts and Scott Mc- Cullough. Keep up the good work guys - start to get ready for play-offs. PeeWees battie to final tournie series On Thursday, Dec. 29th, the Orono OMHA Peewees travelled to Newcastle to take part in a tournament. Their first gaine was played against their long turne rivais - Newcastle. The fact that the gamne was early did flot hold our boys back. The scoring was opened up late in the first period with Derek Zander scoring and the assist going to Todd Therteil. In the second period Tim Bailey surprised the Newcas- tle goalie with a slapshot froin the blueline which prov- ed to be the second goal of the gante. In the third period Ted Gaudet put in a goal assisted by Jeff Finley. *ýWith 16 seconds left in the gane, Brian Rodd, assisted by Ted Gaudet, summed up the score with a final score of 4-O. RBetween the two goalies, were bombed 10-0. Orono went home and Oshawa went on to win the "A" Chamn- pionship. On the 29th of December Orono played an exhibition gane with a Whitby Atoin Select teantlit was quite evi- dent by the 4-0 score at the end of the first period that Orono was goîng to have to tighten up defensively and give goalie Jarret Prescott somne protection. It worked as Orono kept Whitby off the score sheet for the second Richard Stolk and Todd Gray, they played excellent and had a shut-out. This win allowed the bSoys to enter the next gaine in, hopes, to win the "A" Championship. The next gaine was against the Oshawa Red Wings. Ted Gaudet opened up the gaine with an unassisted goal. In the second period Orono's Todd Thertell assisted by Todd Hutton put Orono ahead 2-0. Oshawa came up with a goal to give our boys a lead of 2-1. Later in that period Ted Gaudet put in another goal assisted by Brian Rodd. In the third period Oshawa came back with what proved to be their final goal. Orono held the lead throughout the entire gaine and camne away with another win of 3-2. The next gaine was the "A" Championship gaine against Co bourg. Cobourg openied up the scoring with two unexpected goals in the first period. StilI in the first period Brilan Goodwin scored for Orono with the assist go- inÉ to Doug Redford. In the second period Cobourg scored another goal widening their lead to 3-î. Agaln in the second period Todd Therteil scored for Orono assisted by Derek Zander and Tirn Bailey. The final goal was scored by Cobourg mraking the final score 4-2. AIl Orono players put forth an excellent effort and deserve a great deal of credit for their outstanding sport- smanship. The two goalies, Todd Gray and Richard Stolk are to be congratulatedi on their good goalkeeping. EAST Plenty of action -for Camsport Atoms' Orono's Cainsport Atoms hosted Ennisinore's White teain on Friday, December l6th. Andrew Taylor scored twice in the first period to give Orono a 2-O lead. Scott Williams assisted on both goals and Sean McKenzie assisted, on Andy's first goal while Chad Vandain assisted on the second one. Ennismore scored three unanswered goals in the se- cond period before Kevin Roy tied it up with 44 seconds to play in the period. Chris Simpson and Greg Hooper assisted. Scott Hall in goal for Orono made some fine saves but had very little sup- port in the second and third period. Ennisinore scored two inore goals in the third period to win the game 5-3, Sunday afternoon Orono played a much better garne as they defeated the Ennisinore Green team by a score of 4-2. Ennismore held a 1 -0 lead un- tiI Sean Winning scored assisted by Kevin Roy and Greg Hooper to tie the gaine early in the second period. Jamie Raîl put Orono ahead assisted, by Sean Wînning. Ennismore tied it up quickly but Orono fought back to regain the lead on a goal* by Scott Williains assisted by Sean McKenzie wvith 2:54 re- rnaining in the second perîod. Thirty seconds later Sean Winning got his second goal of the gaine assisted by Scott Hall and Kevin Roy. Ex- cell plays b% Jarret Prescott in goal for Orono helped to keep the final score at Orono, 4 - Ennismore 2. Frîday, December 23rd, saw Orono go down to defeat 5-0 against Newcastle. Orono, played a strong defensive gaine but were unable to hold off the attack of the stronger Newcastle teain. Tuesday, December 27th, 0Oronoattended the Newcas- tle Atom House League Tournamnent. In- the first gaine Orono was able to squeak past a surprisingly fine Newcastle Novice teain which filled in for a teain that dropped out at the last hour. Newcastle opened the scoring on the first shift of the gaine but Scott Hall tied it up two minutes later, unassisted. Orono picked up the only two goals of the second period as Scott Hall playing an excellent positional 'gaine got his second goal assîsted by Kevin Roy and Scott Hart- wîg. Andrew Taylor scored assisted by Scott Williarns and Chad Vandain. In the 'third period Sean McKenzie picked up Orono's fourth goal assisted by Scott Hartwýig.
