On February 4th, Newcastle visited Orono for a return match with our local heroes winning 7-1. A new line put together by the coaches struck for 4 goals as Jamie Shetier (with 2), joined Daryl Reid (2) and Mike Landers (4 assists). Jamie's fast skating and digging in the corners worked well with Daryl and Mike. The other line was weil represented as Henry Kaldeway opened the scoring with the first of Iwo goals and, on, the samne shift, Michael Dreslinski, popped one in. In recent gamres, Michael has shown a good scoring touch as well as being a keen backchecker. Yet once more little Steven Sargent showed his mettie in goals, the only shot to beat himi be- ing a deflection in fr-ont of goal. Rounding out a good all-round performance was Drew Hansen (2 assists), Brandon Meadows (2), Greg Knox (1), Mark Foster (1), teams traded goals with Dustin Reid circling the net and slipping home the puck for Orono. The Fuelers gave it their best shot but were ijust simply no match for En- nismore, who wvere by far the strongest teami Orono hias met alI, year. On February 5th the team travelled to Port Hope where they participated in a close, tight checking game that end- ed up 1-1. There was nio scor- ing in the first period although there was many good stops at each end. Michael Dreslinski, playing in goal for the first time this year, looked comifortable as he turnied away shots. Midway through the se- cond period Daryl Reid main- tained his scoring streak as he was set up by Jamiie Shetier and Michael Landers. The boys kept up the pressure and could have added to their lead when the referees called a tripping penalty on a clear penalty shot situation. Finally, Port Hope scored on a long shot that just caught the corner midway through the last period. AUl in all, a good, close, low scoring game that had the parents on penterhooks throughout, and a good warm--up for the big match-up between the two Orono squads on February lth.
