And a perfect 2-2 score allowed al the players, coaches and parents to be happy. Tykes Il started fast and soon led 1-0 on a goal by Ben Deremno. Ben scored again before the period ended and tbings looked bleak for Teamn 1. But the boys kept plugging away and Daryl Reid got one back early in the second period, assisted by Greg Knox and Jamie Shetler. Both teams maintained the high level of excitement that their previous games have led us 10 expect with plenty of fast end-to-end play, good goalkeeping and fine plays bfy the defensive corps and forwards. Midway through the final period Michael Landers tied the game. His first shot was stop- ped but be kept digging and eventuaîly got the puck in the net. A great effort, Mike! He was assisted by Andrew Bur- ton and Jason Hill. A special mention is warranted for Steve Sargent who made many tough saves 10 keep the score close and to Henry Kaldeway wbo .kept Brian Good off the scoresheet. The final league game of the season saw the team in top form, resulting in a 6-0 win over Port Hop'e. Henry opened the scoring in the first minute, assisted by Brandon Meadows and Mark Foster. Next, Michael Dreslinski scored the first of a bat trick. Well done, Mike! He was set up by Steven Sargent and Henry Kaldeway on the first. Before the period finishied, he, got is second, assisted by Andrew Burton and J1ason Hill. NMichael Landers scored midway througb tbe second period, tbanks to good work by Daryl Reid and Jamie Sheller. The other Michael scored bis tbird near the end of the perîod, set up by Henry and Greg Knox. The last goal was salted awvay by Michael Landers, with assists to Drew Hansen and Daryl Reid. The teami has improved greatly over these first few ex- bibition games, a mere three months ago and the parents thank the coaches for a job well donc. Likewise, the players, thank Bruce, Boyd and Mark for their patience, perseverance and time. Orono Tennant Fuel Atoms undefeated in league playoffs On Tuesday evening the Fuelers travelled to Sunderland and skated away with a 5-0 \vin. Although Orono had many chances ear- ly in the game their shooting was off target and they couldn'î connect. David "Shifty" Sheridan finally opened the gamne late in the IsI perîod when be received a nice pass fromn Scott McAllister and unleash- ed a bard Iow, snap shot which caught the inside of the far goal post. Wîth just 2 seconds left in the period Jeff (Granny) Hartwig broke into the clear and uncorked a high wrist shot to the upper corner 10 put the Fuelers abead 2-0. Brent Gates earned the assist when lie stripped the puck from the defenseman, and set Jeff up. Early into the 2nd period the Fuelers put on tremen- dons pressure hemming the home teami in their own end. Finally Camneron Esier passed the puck 10 Scott McAllister behind the net. Scoît spotted David Sheridan open in the~ slot and relayed him a nice pass. Davey made no mistakes and blasted home the puck. Orono conitinued to out- skate their rivals going into the 3rd stanca with Scott McAllister being t he. marksmani and earning bis third point of the match. Scotit backhanded Cameron Esler's reboiund over a sprawling goalie. David Sheridan earn- ed the assist by outmnuscling the defenseman and passing the puck to Camieron. David scored the biat trick and collected bis fourifh point of the gamne wen lie made a diving shot to put away Cameron Esler's rebounid. Camecron earned bis third point of the gaine on the play Ryan Rock, Bradley Min- nis and Jim Parînier played outstanding gamres to aid the. cause. Final score 5-0 Orono. 2nd Game Orono won their 4th straight playoff game in a row by defeating the visiting team Little Britain by a 5-1 count. The tournament was flot only wýell-or-gaiijzed but was well-run and weII- supported. Kevin Roberts put Orono ahead 2-0 at the 8:17 mark Mien he cut into the siot and unleashed Dustin Reid's pass to catch the lover corner of the net. Jason Brachivogel started the play by setting up Dustin. Score 3-0 Orono. After hitting the PgoaI post twice in the lst period, Dustin Reid finially found the mark. Beni Deremno also received a hiat trick and one between the pipes with Brent Gates and Craig Nemis giving 11007. 3rd Game On Saturday the Fuelers won their 5th striaight playoff gamne by defeatîng a visiting Minden teami. The Fuielers played a spirited gamne using their speed advantage against a bîgger team. Early in the gamne Shawn Hardy came up wvith somte tough saves to hold his reamn in the gamne tlii they founid their legs. Defensemian Jimimy Partnier started the play by outhustl- ing a Minden forwvard at the blue line and fed the puICk to Ryani. Just 1 minute and 22 seconds later Dustin Reid stole the puck at centre, broke clear downi the boards and unrleashed a biard snap shot wNhicb bandcuffed the Minden goalie. Midway through the 3rd period Scott McAllister, Dav id Sheridan and Camneron Esler backed uip by Jason Major and Bradley Minnis kept tremiendous pressure on to produce a goal. Camneron was the marksman connec- ting- Scotts perfect pass into a goal. Bradley did the bullwork to earn an assist on the-play. Final score was 5-I Orono.
