Daryl Reid, Henry Kaldeway, Oronro Tennant Fuel Atoms defeat Bobcaygeon by 10-1 sco*re The Fuelers extended their playoff win streak to 6 in a row by defeating Bobcaygeon by a 10-1 score. The boys came to play hockey with every member of the team figuring in the scoring. Jeff Hartwig scored the opening goal on his first shift of the gamne by flipping Brent Gates' pass Ôver the goalie's stick to put Orono ahead 1-0. On the 2nd shift of the game Dustin Reid put 'the Fuelers on the board again when he stole the putck at cen- tre and broke into the clear, unleashing a low wrist shot which found the mark. At the 2:18 mark Kevin Roberts backhanded' Dustin's pass over a sprawling goalie to up the count to 3-0 Orono. Jason Brachvogel started the play when he outmuscled a forward and relayed the puck_ to Dustin. .With just 37 seconds Ieft in the period Dustin Reid scored his second goal of the match bea ting the Bobcaygeon net- mînder with a quick snap shot from the slot. Kevin Roberts earned the assist when hie worked his way into the corner and set Dustin up with a nice pass. Midway through the se-, cond period Dustin scored the hattrick when Jason Brachvogel headmanned him a perfect pass just outside the blueline. Dustin broke into the clear and fired a high wrist shot which found the in- side corner to make the score 5-0 Orono. David Sheridan put the Fuelers ahead 6-0 at the 4:07 mark wheni he received a nice pass from Bradley Minnis and fired a hard low wrist shot into the bottomn corner. Cameron Esler earned the assist when he stole the puck and relayed it to Bradleywho in turn stickhandled into the corner before spotting David in the clear. With just 24 seconds re- maining in the second period Jimmy Partner skated over the blueline and unloaded a hard wrist shot which hand- cuffed the Bobcaygeon goalie. Ryan Rock and Jason Ma- jor combined some slick pass- ing to set Jimmy up. Score 7-0 Orono. Orono kept the pressure on with Jason Brachvogel firing a high shot to the glove side to put the Fuelers into a com- manding 8-1- lead. Scott McAllister playing defense did the bullwork to earn the assist. Stutt Bantams 'A' champions at Frankford tournament On Saturday March 3, the Stutts Pharmnacy O.M.H.A. Bantams travelled to Frankford to participate in their local tournamnent as a last minute replacement and came away w"ith the "A" Championship. Teams in the tournamnent along with Orono wýere Frankford. Belleville, Napanee, Wellington, Madoc, Manvers and Col- bourne. ORONO 4-WELLINGTON 1 3 The first garne saw the Stutts Bantamis corne up against Wellington and although the local lads ont- shot the opposition by ati east 3-1, they were very fortunate wîth coming away with the Ryan Rock wvas the marksmian with just 1 minute and 3 seconds remiaining in the gamne when lie hurdled the Bobcaygeon goalie and bang- ed in Jimmy Partner's re- bound. Jason Major picked up his second assist of the game with somne heads up playing. With just 20 seconds left ini the game Kevin Roberts (Suzie-Q) notched his second goal of the game when he fired a hard low -drive whîch trickled between the goalie's pads. This was a good solid team effort from the Orono lads but Bobcaygeon will be ot for revenge when they rettur to Orono nextSaturday. win to put them on the "A" side of play. The first period saw the local boys completely dominate play only to find themselves down by a score of 2-0, as they could flot find the net at ail, either shooting wide of the net of right at the goalie. The second period saw Brad Roberts finally put one in to close the score to 2-1 with assists going to Kevin Hartwig and Scott Mc- Cullough. In the third period Stuart Irwin tied the game at 2-2 at the 6:52 mark assisted by Scott McCullough. At the 6:01 mark Wellington went ahead 3-2 as they caught the Orono defence out to lunch. This set up the dramatic finish when Brad "Hawkeye" Roberts came up with bis second of the game with just 0:31 seconds left in the game assisted hy Brian Hill and Shaun Bailey. Then with just 0:13 seconds left on the dlock Scott MIcCullough came np with the winning goal unassisted. ORONO 6-MADOC 5 The second gamne saw 'the Stutts Bantams corne up against Madoc which turned into a goalies nightmare with both tearns ending up tied 4-4 after three periods and en- ding up in a shootout to settie the outcome. The first period saw both tearns play to a scoreless draw. The second period saw Orono outscore the Madoc club by a score of 3-1. Scott MCuEllough assisted hy Kevin Hartwig and Stuart Ir- Win opened the scoring only to see Madoc corne back with one of their own to even the score at 1-1. Kevin Hartwig then made it 2.1 with assists going to Russell Sullivan and Scott McCullough. With 1:53 left in the period Scott "Hus- tle'ý McCullough then made it 3-1 on an unassisted effort. The third period saw the local lads faîl asleep thinking they had the gamne won only to see Madoc corne up wilh three goals to Orono's one to end the third period 4-4. Scoring for Orono was Kevin Hartwig assisted by Scott Mc- Cullough and flrad Roberts. This sent the two tearns into a shootout with Orono going 2-2 compared with Madoc's 1-2 to give Orono the Win and advance to the "A" Chamn- Pionship. Scoring for Orono in the shootout were Brad Roberts and Scott Mc- Cullough. Final score Orono 6 and Madoc 5. ORONO 5-BELLEVIILLE 0 The Charnpionship game saw the Stutts Bantams corne upr against the favourite Belleville club.
