The Toronto-based Bowkun Trio combines the remnarkable talents of twin sisters, Sandra Bowkun (flute) and Julia Bowkun (cello), with Ellen Meyer (piano). Ail three artists have trained wth international masters and have perforred widely as soloists in Toronto. The trio, formed in 1980, has selected, arranged and recorded music for several Canadian film and televîsion scores. They have also pro- duced a record album for the C. B. C. Described as "innovative" and -refreshing", their style is iniformaI, with commnen- taries to accompany their selections. The committee hias asked them to include in their programme items from their Cushion Concert at Roy Thomson Hall. These con- certs are geared for famnilies. Under their auspices, the Bowkun Trio this month hias been touring Ontario, performing in Thessalon and Blind River, Prescott, Waterloo and Lind- say before coming here. They will go on to Strathroy, Cam- bridge and five other places before the end of the month. In 1985 the World Con- gress of Jeunesses Musicales - Youth and Music Can~ada is part -_ will be held in five Canadian cities (Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Niagara and Toronto) bet- ween July 21 and July 31.
