Valerio Longo, 55, was charged by Durham Regional Police after a fire> swept through the Venezia Family Restaurant on Highway 115-35 south of Orono in September 1983. Sehool board backs off tower issue The Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Educa- tion backed-off a request front a protest group to sup- port an enfvironmental impact on a proposed TV Ontario tower investigation. The group has been oppos- ed to the locating of a TV tower in-their area due to im- pact on the beauty of the area, interference with other transmitters and possible radiation being emitted from the tower and its singles. The group also stated that a letter from the Board to the Minister of Citizenship and Culture calling for construc- tion of the tower as soon as possible had damaged the protestor's cause.1 The letter did mention the Gore's Landing site. The board is to clarify its position in tbe matter.
