Late into the second period with their backs to the wall Orono fought back with 2 quick goals by Kevin Roberts to close the gap. Orono 3, Omemee 3 On Thursday, Nov. 22 Orono travelled to Omemee and played one of their best games of the season to earn a 3-3 tie against a tough oppo- nient. After playing well and losing their last gamre they were really upt) for this on1e. The boys actually were try- ing just a lttle too hard and w,%ere up tight a littie. Omiemiee beîng the strong t eam tih ey are took advantage and scored 3 goals before the Matthews and Hill boys settl- ed do-wn. At this point with the gamne haîfov, a lot of teams would hav'e given up, but with coach Ruiss Major giving them encouragement they came back with a fluirry. David Sheridan who played his best gamne of the year got the bail rolling. David is a small, but ag- gressive player who's speed and deceptive moves cause the opposition to take penalties to stop him. This game was no exception as Omemee took 5 penalties, 4 of them trying to collar David. Todd Gray broke down the wing at the 5:30 mark of the 2nd period and suddenly spun aroung and-lifted a highi backhand drive which was kicked out by the Omemee goalie. David was there to flip the rebound into the open net. Early into the 3rd it was Blaine Souch who hit the mark. Blaine received a beautiful pass from Jason Burnham and stickhandled pass the defenseman to fire a hard drive into the top cor- ner. Brent Osmond did the spade work on this goal by digging the puck out of the corner and relaying a nice pass to Jason. This goal seemed to ignite the Orono fans-and players. With the parents cheering the kids on, David Sheridan sped into the Omemee end and surprised everyone when he slapped a clearing pass bet- ween the goalie's legs !o tie the contest. This goal came just 9 seconds after Blaîne's marker. Jason Brachvogel and Jeff Hartwig, who won the faceoff earned the assists on the play. Jason -and Jeff were really flying aIl night. Orono kept great pressure on in the dying moments but hadto setule for a well eaned tie. If the boys keep playing like they did in this and their last match they will win their share of points. Craig Nemis continues to improve on defence wiîth goalie Shawn Hardy pilaying is best hockey of the year.
