On Friday, March 1, Orono hosted Ennismore for' our second game. The score -was 3-1 for Ennismnore. Scott Hall and John But- tigieg took turns defending the net, each playing one period and a haîf. Orono played very tight hockey for the firstýeI d and int the second.At 6:40 of the second, Ennismore scored. Then our only socring teamn of the night tied it up at 5:51. Steve Shetler scored the goal and his ever present assistant Chris Yeo piçked up the helper. After that, we just didn't go anywhfere except to the penalty box. Four penalties just kîlled ouar momentum! Scott Hartw,%ig served two minutes for hook- ing,, Jarret Prescott Iwo minutes for tripping, Chris Yeo (?) two minutes for body contact and Chris (?) again for hooking! On Saturday, March 2 Orono10 ravelled to En- nismore for another try at a win, but to no avail. En- nismore whipped Orono severely byv a score of 6-1!! There weren't any penalties to blamne this loss on, just bad hockey, Matthews and Hili PeeWees on five gaine winning streak ORONO 3 - BEWDLEY - 1 Afier knocking off Bewdley last week, the Orono boys camne right back and repeated the feat by a 3-1 tune ini this playoff game. Dasvid "Shifty" Sheridan drew Ist blood late imb the lst period when he flipped Todd Gray's rebound over a sprawling goahie into the top corner. Jason "Boonm Boom" Burnaham did the spade on this goal when he dug it out of the corner to Todd. Midway through the se- cond period, Jason Burnham upped the count to 2-1 when he popped home David Sheridan's rebound after a mad scramble in front of the net. Todd Gray started the play from the corner of the net after steaing the puck off of a Bewdley defenceman. Bewdley fought back and at the 10:56 mark of the ast period scored a goal of their own to mnake il a 2-h gamie. The visiors kept pressing 10 rie the match but g-oailtender Billy Todd hied the fort wiîhi the help of his def'encemieni. Bewý,dley puled theirý goaliender late in the garne only to have Jeff "Granny" Hartwig steal the puck just over his own blueline and fire il int the open net. Final score 3-1 Orono. This vîctory didn't corne easy as every player on the teamn really hiad to put out to earn the victory. Brian Rodd and Jason Adey were stan- douts in this match with Todd Gray checking Bewdey's top sc ~er to a standstill. ORONO 2 - NEWCASTLE 1 The Matthews and Hllh boys éxtended the sîreak to 5 games undefeated by hiandîng Newcastle a 2-1 loss righlt in their owni building. Thiese two îeams battled Io a 1-I lie just last week. This w .in leave.s Orono with 3 wins and a lie lit their round robin payoff series against Newcastle, Bewdhey and Millbrook. Newcastle put up a fough -batile and ouiplayed the Mai- thewý and Hlli boys 10) earn a 1-0) lead ninthe firsi period. The t1wo îcams lfought evenhy in Aie 2nd stanza withi no goals scoried. Orono picked up the temn- po in the 3rd period with David Sheridan, who is on a scoring streak, put his team on the board. David received a nice pass from Blaine Souch, circled behind the net and slid the puck into the short side before the Newcas- tle goalie had timne 10 cover up. Just 52 seconds later David fhew, down the boards by himrself and unleashedl a hard wrist shot whîch bouinced off a Newcastle defencemnan mbt the net. This goal proved 10 be the inner with Newcastle unable Io gel anyýthing ,by Shawn Hardy. Shawn sent t he Newcaýt le boys away shaking their heads ith the saves hie made. Billy Todd sarîed the gamne and was equally ouistaniding with somne great stops 10 keep his team in the gamne. Ennismnore scored first again at 5:52 of the second period. With just eigteen seconds left, our only scoring team Steve Shetler and Chris Yeo got our onily goal.
