Achievement. presented last ORONO CAMPUS NEWS -There are four co-op students in Orono School. We are ail glad that they are worifg with us. Christine Luxton works in, Mrs. Alin's grade one class. She works from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Christine helps the chiidren read and she helps mark math. She would like to be a grade one teacher. Leanne- Gerrow helps in Mrs. Staples kindergailen class. She helps from 12:15 to 2:50. Leanne prints out their stories and does activities with them. She would like to be a kindergarten teacher. .Shane Harbinson works in Mr. Stephens' grade six class from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. He works on the computer and heips the students do work which they have trouble with. Shane picked grade six because it was his favorite grade. Laura Oxenhamn works in Mrs. Cowen's grade 1-2 ciass from 8:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. She marks work and listens to the chiidren read. We thank them very much. by Tara Wallace Grade 6 GIRLS' HOUSE LEAGUE AT ORONO Ail four girls' house league teams are doing very weii. Every Tuesday and Thursday two of the teams have a floor, hockey game. There are about 12 pLayers on each team. The teams are the Pan- thers, the Cobras, the Dragons and theCougars. The people on the Panther team are Wenda DenHolianders, -Andrea Trafford, Stephanie Ciap- dorp, Tara Wallce, Sherry Stonebury, Crista Clapdorp, Andrea Levac, Michelle Rutherford, Ashley Bur-- nham, Lisa Jackson, Robin ', Plazek and Brie-Anne Wallace. The Cobras are Tami Osmond, Aiison Cochrane, Shannon Reid, Danette Ward, Kerrie For- rester, Shellie, Nowak, Melanie Rypstra, Tammy Gylytiuk, Casey McQue, Heather Simpson, Chantel Brown and Cirfdy Carscad- den. The Dragons are Natalie Anderson, Adel Nixon, Eiieen Beire, Brandy Langly, Leslie Piazek, Shan- non MacGregor, Janet, Reader, Stephanie Danl- ington, Nicole Yaworski and Caroline Robia. The Cougars are Nicole French, Michelle Cowiing, Pauline Cox, Kelly Hentig, Kristen Plummer, Tara Young, Carnie Hender- son, Macia Morris, Dana Stag and Kristi Sanders. Good iuck to ail the teams in future games. by Tara Wallace Grade 6 LOCKHART CAMPUS NEWS by Coralie Tennant, Grade 5 Georgina Sotiriadis, Grade 6 Jennifer Luxton, Grade 5 Mr. Eames 5, 6 class is working on a African pro- ject. In music Mr. Eames assigned the kids to write a song made up by them to play on a musical instrument call- ed the recorder. They are aiso reading new novels. Mr. Taylor obtained a computer for us and Mr. Wîtheridge's class is using it now. French 1in French, Grade 6 is studing and doing "ER" verbs- Grade 5 is d oing vous etes, and nous sommes and grade 4 is doing things about Zano families. Our French teacher, Madame VanCamp is funnpy antd nice. In reading Mrs. Ralfes class 2,3 are watching a visual Fish farmn plan approved The Regional works com- mittee is recommeriding that the Region give approval for the sale of the mothballed Frenchman's Creek water pollution control plant to be novel called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Since spring is here Mrs. Ralfes 2,3 class is celebrating spring by decorating their classroom. They are also studying nutri- tion. At Lockhart the children have been skipping outside and they are playing foot hockey. People are going out to the baseball field and play- ing basebaîl. They go to the playground and play touch- tagq or play in the tunnels. We have finished the Skip-A- Thon. There were about 56 people in it. We don't know how much we collected as yet. The library's helpers are Brent Evers, Mark Pierce, Jennifer Luxton and Cindy Jerome is helping Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Robinson has ordered some new books for our library. Mr. Witheridge's 4 and 5 class did a study on "The Match Lock Gun" with Mrs. Robinson. Mr. Eames' 5 and 6 class did a study on "Sounder" with Mrs. Robinson. Dustin scored with 2:06 remaining in the se- cond period assisted by Sean McKenzie. In the third period Stephen Stadelmann scored unassisted to make it 5-0. Bowmanville scored two goals late in the period to make the final score Orono 5, Bowmanville 2. Chad Vandam and Robin Leth shared the goaltending duties for Orono and did a fine job with a lot of help from their hardworking defence Jim Partner, Ryan Rock,- Shane Jones and Camneron Esler and forwards Greg Hooper,' Trevor Lomax, Brent' Gates, who also played well. At home on Saturday night, Orono hosted the L.N.H.L. Bruins. Orono was really out to lunch for most of this game. They allowed thie Bruins, to score 5 t¶ianswered goals' in the first perîod, 2 more in the second and one in the third period. Orono's only goal came late in the third period when Shane Jones and Dustin Reid forced the puck over the Bruin blueline through a maze of players and Dustin went in to score. Final score Bruins 8, Orono i. Sunday- afternoon , Orono played in Manvers. After the way they bombed out the night before, the local boys were determined to hand out Principal Mr. R.E. Sean McKenzie started the scoring for Orono assisted by Scott Williams at 2:18'of the first period. Dustin Reid scored the next Orono goal a minute and a haif later assisted by Scott McAlîister and Jim Partner. Brent- Gates scored the third Orono goal with 5:46 to play in the opening period assisted by Dustin Reid and Scott MeAllister. Brent, did it again late in the second period assisted by Scott and Dustin to give Orono a commanding 4-0 lead. Jason McBridge scored for Manvers early in the third period to break the shutout that Robin Leth and Chad Vandam were working on in the Orono net. With 6:17 to play in the game, Orono's Stephen Stadelmann scored assîsted by defenseman Paul Flintoff. Brent Gadtes got his third goal of the game.,at the 6:06 mark assisted bý,,Jim Partnier and Scott McAllister. Trevor .Lomax scored brono's final goal with 1:25 to play assisted by Greg Hooper and Ryan Rock. Final score Orono 7, Manvers 1. Although they were not involved in the score sheet, Bradley Minnis and Shane Jones played very, strong defensive games. Next game for the Tennant Fuel boys is Wednesday night at 7:00 when they take on their Moms and Dads. Teamn record this year 50 far is 38 wins, 13 losses and 4 ties w\ith 206 goals for themn and 122 goals against them. Goaltenders Robin Leth, Chad Vandam and Cameron Ester have accounted for 9 shutouts. Vcry good boys, keep up the good work!
