As Charimran of the Newcastle Campaign, her duties include recruiting seven Group Captains to organize the canvass in Bowmanville and surroun- ding ameas. She will also hold organizers and monitor the progress of local fund- raising. Her responsibilities also in- clude assisting Group Cap- tains and helping to organize Special Events such as Yard Sales or visits by Ouest Speakers. Mrs. Birkett, who is mar- ried with twin five year old girls, is employed as Puirchas- ing and Sup'ply Agent for the Town of Newc astle. She is currently taking courses at York University to achieve ber Professional Purchasers Diplomia. She is a member of the Bowmanville Curling Club. Her previous United Way experience includes a termn as Captain of the Industrial Group during the 1984 Cam- paign in the Town of Newcas- tle. She was a canvasser within the Industrial Group during the 1982 and l98ý càîtpaigns. In 1977 and 1978, she was a canvasser at Dunlop Tire, Whitby.
