The clerk reported, -upon request from a former com- mittee meeting, that parking by-law regulations were en- forced bv the Town's parking (Continued page 2) Diane Hamre of Orono an- nounced last week that she is seek i ng re-election as Regional Councillor for Ward Three in the November l2th elections for the Town of Newcastle. The rncumbent has held the position for the past five years. For the past three years she bas been chairmnan of Duirhamn Region Healtb and Social Services committee as well as carrying out bier duties in other areas as wvell as a local councillor. She said she believes in listening to people and then taking positive action to resolve their concerns. Also, she said, she believe in a team approach and dlaims to bave had tbe ability to work witb people providing a strong voice for the *Town of Newcastle. Diane Hamre looks to ac- complishments over the past five' years listing major rehabilitation to the area business areasas well as im- proved funding for the libraries and museums. She points to improved maintenance to ail town own- ed facilities and town parks and the upgrading of the tire department equipmnent as well as the building of a new fire station in Orono. The regional candidate speaks of improvements in the level of road construc- tion, ditching and road sign- ing as well as a new program of sidewalk repairs. Included is co-operation with downtown business areas, commfunity centres and arenas. She speaks of im- proved town promotions and the provision of assistance to recreation 'programs throughout the town. Diane Hamre points to a recycling program and an. energy conservation prograrn now in effect.
