12-Qreno Weekly Times, Wednesday, Octoher 30, 1985 First place winners Regional committee approves Orono wei According to informa- tion provided by Mayor' Rickard on Tuesday the Regional finance commit- tee has given approval in debenturing for the new Orono water supply in an amount of $660,000.00. The mnatter has been recommended 10 the Regional Public works committee which met Tuesday afternoon and where 'il is expected final approval will be given. The niew well is to be developed west of the Village just north of the fifth line. The new weil will actually consist of twvo wells, one being a stand- by for the other. The wells are expectedt to produce 150 gallons per minute. The new' develo4knent includes not only the well but as well an eight inch feeder main that will follow east along the fifth inie and then to locate north of the mili pond and to then drop south to meet up with Somnerville Avenue in the south of the Village. The existing Nur Two well in the south è* of the Village will be utilized as a secondary source of water supply for Orono. The well at the north of the Village has been withdrawn from service due to the sodium content in the water.
