Although Manvers scoreti first, the local team mainitain- ed pressure on their op- ponents andi were rewarded with two well deserveti goals. Aaron Staples scoreti uniassisteti in the first perioti to even the score and Henry Kaldenay popped the winner after some- nice work by Michael Landers early in the third period. Chati Martense, in goal, made some gooti Ssaves to protect the leati and was ably supporteti by Paul Woods and Michael Dreslin- ski on defence. Our next visitors were Omemee and, although the final score was 4-0, the first two periods were close. Henry Kaldeway scored unassisted in the first pcriod on a breakaway. As in the first gamne, non-stop skating and fine passing plays bet- ween the forwards kept the fans happy and applied pressure on the Omnemee defence. Honourable men- tions go to Jeff Hughes, Ben Deremo, Jamie Shetler, Daryl Reid, Drew Hansen and Brandon Meadows-. Finally, the strong effort paiti off when Aaron Staples scored three goals in the third period. The first started deep in our zone when he picked up a pass from Andrew Bur- ton and went all the way. Shortly afterwards, Michael Dreslinski set him up for his second, followed by a nice passing play with Mark Foster and Michael Landers which netted him hîs third. Well done, Aaron! Tri-County win three out of four games Mifllbrook 3 - Orono 0 Wednesday, October 28th was our first game of the season, now after' a few wceks of power skating and practices the teamn really feels they aie reàdy for this gamne, so on to Millbrook, and the game asgainst Millbrook il tcam. The first 2 periods te- maineti scoreless with the 3rd perioti being our downfall. Millbrook Il scored 3 unanswcred goals in this pcriod. 1 will put this loss down to a case of fîrst game anxieties. Orono Il - Oakwood 1 Here it is Friday night November lst, we are in Oakwood ready for the ex- hibition game to get started. Finally the referee drops the puck and the game is under- way. At 8:49 of the first period Orono opened the scoring by Sommer West unassisteti, then at the 3:04 mark Jason Lawrence slipped one in unassiste -d. With only 2:13 left in the first perioti Jcff Goodmurphy put one in unassisteti. At '9:40 of thc second perioti Orono goes on the scoreboard again 1on a goal by Jonathan Burnhamn assisted* by Sommer West, Orono then tallies again at 7:42 by Jason Lawrence unassistcd. Scott Ransbcrry put onte in at 4:37 assisted by Sommer West and Simon Weagant. With only 1: 11 togo inthe se- cond period Richard Crozier scores assisted by David Crozier. Orono starts the scoring at 8:43 of the third period by Sommer West unassisted, just seconds later Davidi Crozier slides one past the goalie unassisted. Oakwood opened their scoring at 4:31 n an unassisteti goal by Cory Mollow ending Steven Sargent's bid for a shutout. Orono, comes back and puts in another one unassîsted by David Crozier. With 1:43 left in the game Sommer West scores again unassisted giving Sommer a hat trick. Way to go Sommer! Orono 5 - Ops 1 November 2nd, Orono plays host to the Tri County entry fromn Ops. Oronio jumps right in and starts the scoring with David Crozier assisted by Jason Lawrence at 9:47 of the first period. To end the scoring of the first period Bryan Haines putsone in with :44 sconds left. Orono opens the second perioti at 5:18 with Jonathan Burnham putting one in assisted by Simon Weagant, at the 4:18 mark we notch up another one on a 'goal by Richard Crozier assisted -by Bryan Haines to end the scor- ing in the second perioti. At the 9:40 mark of the third perioti Ops opens the scoring with Michael Wilson assisted by Michael Moore getting it past Steven Sargent. Sommer West scores unassisted at 4:33 to finish off the scoring in thîs game. Good game team! Orono 5 - Millbrook 1 1 Sunday, November 3rd, we travelled again to Millbrook, this time to play Millbrook 1. Most of the play was- in the Millbrook end but Orono could not capitalize on this until the 1:43 mnark-of the first period on a goal by David Crozier, assisted by Owen Tayloir and Richard Crozier. A few seconds later at 1:02 David Crozier scores again, this timne assisteti by Gordon Wilkinson and Scott Ransberry, In the second period the scoring did not start again until the 3:29 mark on a goal by David Crozier with assists to Richard Crozier and Gor- don Wilkinson. At 2:27 Somi- mer West notched one assisted by Gordon Wilkin- son andi Davidi Crozier. There was no scoring in the third peri od until 4:59 when Sommer West assisted by David Crozier and Richard Crozier slipped one past the goalie. Congratulations on the hat trick Davidi! Tennant Fuel Atoms take, wins over Omemee and Cobulurg On Tuesday, October 29th Orono Tennant Fuel Atoms- playeti agalnst the Omemee Atoms in Omemee. Orono opcned the scoring in the first period with a goal by Brent Gates assisteti by Stephen Stadelmann and Cameron Esler at 6:48 of the period. Orono took a 3-0 lead ini the second perioti on goals by Jim 'Partner, assisted by Stephen Stadelmann, and a goal by Trevor Lomnax assisted by Scott McAllister. Omnemee got back in the game when they finally founti out v to get the puck past Or,&_s goalie, Chad Van- dam, at 1:30 of the thîrti perioti. Tyler Adey pushed the score to 4-1 with 11:09 left to play in the gaine. Dustin Reid and Scott Williams assisted on Orono 's 4th goal. Omemee scored 34 seconds later but Oroit streaked back with their 5th goal six seconds later when a pass from Brent Gates was picked up by Camneron Esler who fired the shot past the goaltendier from Omemnee. Orono scored two more goals before the gamne ended to mnake the final score 7-2 for Orono. Trevor Lomax scored assisteti by Scott McAllister and then Scott scoreti assisteti by Sean McKenzie. Orono took 5 penalties while Omemece hati 4. Although they were not crcdited with any scoring assists Adam, Stephenson, Craig Nemnis anti Brati Minnis played very strong on defence. Keep up the good work.boys. Orono Tennant Fuel O.M.H.A. Atoms defeated the visiting Cobourg Atomsý in an exciting mnatch-up last Saturday night. The local boys ran the score to 3-0 in the first period before Cobourg could get on the scoreboard. Tyler Adey scoreti Orono's first goal assisted by Scott Williams with 3:41 gone in, the period. Haîf a minute later Camneron Esler scored assisted by Scoýtt McAllister and Brent Gates. Scott McAllister scoreti a goal of his own with 2:17 left in the period to make it 3-0. Sean McKenzie andi Trevor Lomax assisteti on the goal. Cobourg scored a minute Bowmanville Sharpies at the Orono Arena. Orono couldn't seem to get untrack- ed in the first period as Bowmanville buzzed arounti the Shoppers Drug Mar t net and jumped into a 3 goal lead before Dean Cox scored for United Way reaches 75%0/0m ark At the end of the 4th week Of the 1985 United Way six week Campaign, 72% of the goal hfas been met. $1,359,650 was reported at the Campaign weekly meeting held at' the Flying Dutchman Motor Hotel, Bowmanville. To date, Oshawa has reached 43% of the goal with $263,599; Newcastle 82% with $36,940 and Whitby at 83% with $112,895. The Bowmanville Cana- dian Imperial Bank of Com- merce, King and Temperance Branch will be closing its doors at the normal business hours and re-opening again from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6th. Shop- pers Drug Mart team kept the pressure on right tilt the endi of the game,, they couldn't get the equalizer despite some close calîs around the Bowmnanville team.
