LEADERSHIP Faithful readers of this col- umn know that generally I try to be more informative than political when writing them. But today I'm going to break with this tradition and talk about the candidate I am sup- porting in the Ontario P.C. leadership race. While al three candidates in the race, Alan Pope, Den- nis Timbrell1 and Larry Grossman, are well qualified to take on the challenging and demanding position of party leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislature, 1 have decided te support Larry Grossman. This was certainly not an easy choice to make, but 1 believe there are some very strong reasons why Mr. Grossman is the right person ORONO TOWN HALL Christmas Craft Show Friday, Nov. lSth Saturday, Nov. l6th Sunday, Nov. l7th 6 -9p.mI. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. 12 Noon -56p.m. HOME BAKING, BOOKS, SILK FLOWERS, CHRISTMAS CRAFTS AND MUCH MORE DRAW FOR HAND CARVED WALNUT TABLE AND ANTIQUE REPRODUCTION LAMP ALSO VISIT ANTIQUE DOLL & T0Y SHO AT ORONO SHOWCASE rOE Public Notice To its Citi7zens 1985 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS NOTICE 0F, POLL An Election to F111 the Following Offices w1:11 be held on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH, 1985. No. A 1395 for the P.C. party and On- tario at this tin-i. When lie entered the leadership race, Larry Grossman had the support of more than haif of his caucus colleagues and rnany of the candidates who had con- tested ridings in the. spring election. This mecasure of support puts Mr. Grossman in an excellent position to reunite the P.C. party., 1Larry Grossman is a spon- taneous and loquent speaker. Those talents will be in much demand, both in the Legisiature and on the hustinigs._ As well, Mr. Grossman has a ready wit and quick mnd. He knows the issues in depth and will prove an excellent con- tributor to the debate on separate schools legisiation, the spilîs bill, as well as the Liberal's plan to seil beer and wine in corner grocery stores and extra billing. Larry Grossman has an ability to get to the heart of an issue and an understan- ding ofthe complex'make-up of today's Ohtario. He is a modemn politician and will provide P.C.'s and the pro- vince with a new vision and a new vigour. Ontario needs Larry Grossmnan. We need a provin- cial governiment that is flot afraid to take a stand and has the ability to look ahead and plan ahead for all community corïcerns. When Ontario P.C.'s mark their ballots for a niew leader on November 16, l'Il be put- ting my "X" beside Larry Grossman's naine. But l'miflot the only per- son who will becinarking a ballot this November. November 12 is municipal, election day across Ontario. This is your chance to choose the people who will serve. on your local counicil, school board or public utiities comn- mission. Local elections are now held every three years. This means your vote will in- fluence the direction your community will take over the next three years. Take time to study the issues and the candidates. Local government may flot seem glamorous, but it is very important. Local goverfiment is the level of government closest to you and the deci- sions made on local council, on the school board and the public utilities commission will have a direct bearîng 'on your quality of life. -Choose wisely and vote on November l2th!
