One minute and fifty two seconds into the game Millbrook Il started their scoring and by the 2:11 mark they had slip- ped in 3 goals. With only 8 seconds remaining on the dlock in the first period, Jason Lawrence scores Orono's lone goal of the game. Or-ono held them down to 1 goal each perîod for the remainder of the game. At the 2:03 mark of the third period Chris Mit- chell received a 3 minute penalty for roughing. Ops 1 Orono 7 On Sunday, November lOth, Orono travelled to Ops looking for a Win to put us back on Our wînning streak once again. At 7:06 of the first period Orono took the lead on a goal by David Crozier unassisted. Jeff Goodmurphy put us ahead by 2 goals at the 3:00 minute mark unassisted. The first haîf of the second period re- mained scoreless, then at 4:59 Jeff Goodmnurphy notches his second goal of the day assisted by Jonathan Bur'- nham. Ops now makes their bid for a comeback as Adami Luther slides one past our goalie Bryan Haines at the 4:20 mark. Scott Ransberry puts one in unassisted at 2:55. A goal by Sommer West at 2:44 ends the scoring for the second period. Three minutes Dùurug Mart Oldimers drop game to Newcastle, 6-0 over Millbrook On, Sunday, November l7th the Orono Shoppers Drug Mart Oldtimers took a short-handed squad to Newcastle. They played .a team made up of Buster's and the Oshawa Hiot Dogs. The first perîod ended with Newcastle up 1-0. ln the se- cond period however the Orono squad started to tire as Newcastle jumped into a 5-0 Iead. The Shoppers Drug Mart team got their second wind at this point as theynar- rowed the score to 5-2. In the third period however Orono began to tire and Newcastle extended their lead to a final. score of 7-2. Scoring for the Shoppers Drug Mart team were Dave Armstrong and John Cartwright. On Sunday night the Shop- pers Drug Mart team hosted the Millbrook Super Bees. The Orono team had a fuil squad for this game and they defeated the Millbrook team by a 6-0 score. Murray Taylor opened the scoring in the first period assisted by "Scotty", Burton and Bruce Therteil. Doug Campbell extended Shopper's lead to 2-0 with help from Garf Webb and Wayne Martin. In the second period Glen MacLeod made it 3-0 assisted b.y Dean Cox and Jim Souch. Dean Cox netted the fourth Orono goal at the end of the second period. Doug Campbell net- ted his second of the night before Dave Shetier scored Shoppers Drug Mart's sixth goal on a solo effort. Bob Boumne had a steady game in net to record the shutout. Orono travels to Newcastle for a return match on Sunday November 24th before hostîng the Little Britain Oldtimers on Sunday night at 7:30 in the Orono Are na. Orono scored late in the first period when Craig Nemis and Tyler Adey assisted on the goal scored by Trevor Lomax. With only 1: 11 left to play in -the period Dustin Reid made it 2-0. Craig Nemis and Tyler Adey assisted on the play. Thirty seconds into the second period Tyler Adey scored Close encounters on ice for the Orono Kinsmen PeeWees On Friday, November 8th, Orono hosted Millbrook. In the first period Orono went ahead 2-0 on two goals by Keven Roberts, the first assisted by Andy Taylor and the second by Kevan Roy. Millbrook retalîated with a goal at the 1:34 mark. In the second period, Mllbrook scored the only goal to tie the gamne 2-2. In the third period Tyler Gibson scored assisted by Jason Burnham but Millbrook scored again to tie the gamne 3-3. Keven Roberts scored again for a hat trick, assisted this time by Jamie Bail. With 22 seconds left to play, Mllbrook scored and the game ended in a tie, 4-4. On November 15, the Orono Kinsmen Peewees played an exhibition game against Newcastle hecause Omnemee was not availabie for play. In the first period Kevin Roberts scored unassisted but Newcastle retaliated to tie the score. There was no scoring in the second period. In the third period Darrin Mercer scored unassisted te put Orono in the Iead. However, Newcastle scored three timnes in a row to go ahead 4-2. In spite of a good effort Orono was able to score only one more time and the game end- ed Newcastle 4, Orono 3. On Sunday, November 17, the Orono Kinsmen Peewees traveiled to Manvers for a league game. In the first period Orono dominated the play, scoring twice. Kevin Roberts got both goals, assisted on the first by Shawn Knapp and on the se- cond by David Sheridan. In the second period Kevin Roberts scored again assisted by Darrini Mercer. However, Manvers scored twice to put the score at 3-2. Ini the third period, Manvers scored twice more to go into the Iead.,Then Jason Burnhamn scored unassisted to tie the gamne. Manvers then scored to go into the iead;. then Orono retaiiated with a goal by Andy Taylor assisted by Jamie Bail to, tie it ail up again. Orono 5 - Millbrook 10O On Saturday, November 16th, Millbrook 1 travelled to Orono to complete Our home to home games. Due to an ice storm Millbrook 1 arrived wth only six players and a lot of spirit. Millbrook held the home tea~m off the scoreboard until 5:51 of the first period when Jason Lawrence assisted b y Jonathan Burnham sid one in the net. At 5:28 Brian Hogenhout let go and put in his first goal of' the season assîsted by Jonathan Bur- nham. On a pass from David Crozier, Sommer West netted one at 3:56 to end the scoring of the first period. With only .39 seconds left in the period, Orono picks up a penalty for body contact by David Crozier. At the 5:08 mark of the second period Sommer West scores again, this time unassisted. There was' no scorîng until 9:16 of the third period when Sommer got her hat trick on a pass from David Crozier. Sharing the shutout for Orono were goalies Owen Taylor. and Steven Sargent. Way to go Brianl Beware Great Gret- zky, Brian has found out your secret. Manvers 2 - Orono 5 Sunday, November l7th, saw Orono in Manvers waiting to play our first game with them this season. As we watch the pre-game warm- ups the competition looks pretty good. The puck is ready to be dropped and now the game is underway. Orono opens the scoring at 5:22 with Sommer West on a pass fromn Bryan Haines. At 2:24 Bryan Haines tips one in assisted by Sommer West. Manvers opens their scoring at 7:38 of the second period as Mark Kett assisted by Rachel Har- rison slips one past goalie David Crozier. At the 3:50 mark Sommer West put one in on a pass from Jason Lawrence. Manvers puts on the pressure at the beginning of the third period but Orono preserveres and at 7:14 Simon Weagant scores his first goal of the season on a pass from Jonathan Burnham. Once Simon found out how to put the puck in the net, there's no stopping him now as he not- ches another one on a pass fromn Brian Hogenhout. With 2:33 left in the game Jeremy Malcolm, on a break away, slides one past Steven Sargent to end the game 5-2 for Orono. Special mention to the trusty defense of Scott Ransberry, Gordon Wilkin- son, Owen Taylor and Richard Crozier. Good Game Team! Simon, watch it, the Leafs may want to draft you soon.
