The next nîght in Orono the saine two teants played tu a 2-2 tie. Bewdley played a strong game, as did the Orono boys. Bewdley scored the only goal of the first period at the 19 second mark while Orono couldn't get, un- tracked as they managed only 1 shot on goal in the period. Bewdley pulled ahead to a 2-0 lead 34 seconds into the se- cond period but Cameron Ester got a goal for Orono at' 2:03 of the period converting a nice pass from Stephen Stadelmann. Orono trailed, 2-t late in the third period. It looked like the Orono boys were about to lose their first league gaine (5 wins, 1 tie) when Trevor Lomax tucked the puck behind the Bewdley goalie assisted by Sean McKenzie with 37 secondsý showing on the dlock.,There were a couple of good chances in the dying seconds of the gaine but the Oronio boys feit pretty lucky to get the tie. 'On Sunday, Orono traveli- el to Millbrook for the first gaine of the season between these two teains. In the first period Orono scored three unanswered goals. Stephen Stadelmann opened the scor- ing at 1:11 assisted by Caineron Esler and Brent Gates. A minute later Scott McAllister scored when Sean McKenzie passed to Trevor Loinax who dumped it out in front of the net to Scott. Jin Partner fired a high shot froin the blue line which deflected into the goal to give Orono a 3-0 lead with 6:40 to play in the first period. Millbrook made it 3-1 early in the second period. Scott McAllister got his second goal at 2:06 assisted by Sean McKenzie again. Halfway through the period Tyler Adey put the Orono, boys up 5-1. That's when Orono started to coast and Millbrook stormed back wth three goals in four and a haif minutes. Heading into the third period Orono tightened up and kept Millbrook off the scoreboard until 8:10 of the period to tde the gaine. ,Moments before, Orono's frustration showed when the referree told thein they had scored on a goal mouth scramble but changed his mind moments later and disallowed the goal after the Millbrook netininder recovered froin the scramble. With the gaine tied at 5-5 and 27 seconds left on the clock Mllbrook scored to take the gaine 6-5. It was Orono's first league loss of the season against 5 wins and 2 ties. These saine two teains go at it again on Wednesday night in Orono at 7:00. M&H Orono 'PeeWees play see-saw battie with Cobourg ORONO'3 - COBOURG 3 On Tuesday, November l2th Cobourg visited the Orono Arena and the end result was a 3-3 deadtock: The visitors opened the scoring at the 6:13 mark of the first period. The Matthews and Hill Peewees evened the count in the dying moments of the period when Matt Stevenson fired a hard low wrist shot froin deep into the corner to beat the Cobourg netininder. David Sheridan started the play when he stripped the defensemnan of the puck then relayed to Todd Gray who in turn set Matt Up with a nice pass. Orono went ahead 2-1 ear- ly in the second period when Tyler Gibson fired a high wrist shot which caught the top corner. Brian Rodd and Jason Major set the goal up with some sharp passing. Cobourg fought back to even it up again at the 5:35 mark, then went ahead 3-2 when they hit the mark early in the 3rd stanza. Wîth just 53 seconds left Orono tied the match up on a power play goal that Todd Gray fired into the lower cor- ner stick side. Jason Adey and David Sheridan earned the assists on the play. This was an evenly played gaine with Shawn Hardy and lilly Todd keeping their teain in the gaine with soine splen-. did goaltending. Mike Goodmurphy and Blaine Souch, played ag- gr essively beh ind the blue line. Brent Osmond missed the game due to a previous injury and his absence was noticed. ORONO 4 - NEWCASTLE 1 The Matthews and Hill boys won their fourth gaine of the year at the expense of a touigh Newcastle squad. This win gives the Orono teain a 500 season s0 far. Both teains came out of blocks fuît out, with Newcas- tle drawing first blood at the 4:27 mark. Rob Rowe netted the goal on a soloeffort. After a rather disappoin- ting start in pre-season play Orono Camsport Tri Coun- ry Atoms seem to be on the right track. under coach B. Toinkins Carhsport's season home opener against Orono Tri County Atoins Il teain was a 5 to 1 loss. Jay Hansen got the tone goal for Cajnsport with Brandon Ovenden assisting. The team's overaîl performance left a lot to be desired however Scott Hall played a strong gaine turning away many shots. In Gaine 2 of the season Camsport travel led to Oakwood and caine away 4 to 0 losers once more. However the teain ptayed much better and Coach Toinkins noted it wasjust a matter of time tilt they would start winning a few. Gaine 3 was the turning point! On November 16 back in Orono they had a return match up wth the other Orono Atoins Il teain. Camsport was definitely the underdogs, but with a fine ef-, fort froin the whole teain caine away 5 to 0 winners! Camn Toinkins scored first assisted hy Steve Shetler and eremy Brace. The second goal was scored by Steve Shetter with assists going to Camn Toinkins and Brandon Ovenden. Steve Shetier scored again assisted, by Jeremy Brace. The fourth goal was unassisted by Jay Hansen. The final goal was scored by Scott Hartwig with assists going to Paul Flintoff. Fine performances were put in by Mike Doty, Adam Wallace, Tim Hollowell and Jason Knapp. In Gaine 4 of thie season Camsport travell- ed to Little Britain) on November 17 and once agaîn came away 5 to 0 winners! Leadîng the scoring Stephen Shetler, with 3 unassisted goals and 2 assists! Steve's been on a scoring terror lately with 8 points in 2 gaines in- cluding 5 goals. Other scorers in the gaine were Cam Tom kins with a goal and Tim Hollowell with a goal assisted by Jeremy Brace.ý Scott Hall was deserving of both "back- to-back" shutouts. Also honourable mention goes to Laura Abrains who had a strong gaine offensively. Orono battledt back and late into the period Brian Rodd scored after tremen- dous pressure around the Newcastle goal. Jeff Hartwig and Tyler Gibson earned assists with their constant digging. Brian notched his second marker of the match with a tremendous second effort early in the second period. After being knocked down, Brian' kept digging away and while still on his knees flipped the puck over' a sprawling goalie. -Early in the third stanza Todd "Chipmnunk" Gray blasted home Jason Adey's relay to put Orono ahead 3-1. Matt Stevenson earned the other assist on this power play goal. Brian -Rodd netted the bat trick at the 4:43 mark to sait away the victory. This goal came after a mad scramble in front of the goal. Matt Stevenson did the bull-work to earn his 2nd assist of the game.
