Hamiltons Midgets win Pickering- Tourna ment ORONO 4 - NEWCASTLE 4 Thursday, December 12 the Hamiltons Insurance O.M,.H.A. Midgets travelled to Newcastle and camne away with a 4-4 tie. The first period saw the teams trade goasi with Chris Pearce scor- ing for Orono assisted by, Mike Cairns. The second period saw Newcastle outscore the local lads 3-1 to end the seconid period 4-1 for Newcastle. Scoring the lone Orono marker was Scott MClog assisted by Robert Snqoek and Blainle Sieep. The third period saw Oronio corne fighting back wilt to goals and Allan Hall cornle up wýith sone shutout goaltending to end the game a 4-4 de. Teams in the tournament were Pickering, Pickering Village, Ajax, Oshawa Bruins, Woodbridge, Markham, Port Perry and Orono. Orono 7 - Port Perry 3 The first game of the tournament saw Orono corne out flying against Port Perry. The first period saw Orono score 3 unanswered goals to go ahead 3-0). David LaFrance opened the scoring, after only 0:07 seconds assisted by imi Wood and Brad Roberts. Mike Cairnis upped the counit to 2-0 on a pass from Scott McCullough. Withi 0:49 seconds left in the period Paul Henry Made it 3-0 assisted hby ike Cairns. The second period saw thle local lads up the score to 6-0 wt three more unanswered g-oals. The third period saw Port Perriy corne back with three to close thie gap to 6-3 only to see Jimi Wood score unassisted to end ithe gaine 7-3 for Orono). Orono 3 7 Woodbridge 2 The second game on Saturday, Decem-ber 14 saw the loca-l lads corne up against an excellent squiad fromn Woodbridge. The Orono teamn found themnselves down 1-0 after one period of play as they fouLnd themselves in a real knock-emi- down affair with the hieavy-ititin-g Woodbridge Club. Thei second period saw the local lads sart doing some extra effort and corne uip with two unanswered goals to go ahead 2-1. David LaFrance put. Oronio on th e board to, tie the game at 1-1 with Paul Flenury and goalie Allant Hall coming up \with the assists. Pauý,l Henry then made it 2-1 assisted by Richie Dale. The third period saw Woodbridge tie the game at, 2-2 to send it into cýuddendeath overtirnc. Thei Oroino lads kept the pressure on in overt ime and after 1:50 gone in, the overtime Robert Snoek put in the winner with assists going to Chris Pearce and Jim Wood. With this win Orono moved into the "A" Champions;hip against Oshawa Bruins. Hamioltons In- suranice Services Midgets played their rfith gamne in as many nights winininig over Manvers by a 7-3 score.
