Upon arrivai we went on a scavenger hunt with flashligl4ts. We warmed- up inside and played a gaine and presented the AIl Round Cords Cords. We then hadi cake and pro- ceeded outside where a roaring fire awaited. We sang some campfire songs and we were served hot chocolate. It was a very special and enjoyable evening. Our thanks are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Etman- skie for their work in making this evening a success. Guides receive their A Il Round Cords Three New Governors For Durham College Durham College has three new externat Governors appointed to its Board. They are Bryan Davies Jr-, who is a Port Perry lawyer and a di rector of the- Durham Region Law Associa- tion; Robert Moorcroft of Port Hope, retired Superintendent of the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education, currently a member of the Port Hope Hospital Board and active in the Cancer Society and Port Hope United Church; and Cindy Murray, Branch Manager of the Bank of Montreal in Oshawa, and a graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming College. She is a Director of Denise House, and Treasurer for the Gift of Christmas Toy and Food Drive of Durham Region. The new external Governors were appointed by the Ontario Councîl of Regents for a three year terrm which began January 1, 1990. There are 17 members on thie Durham College-Board of Gover- nors. Dorothy Stirling of Oshawa was elected as Board Chair and Richard Jones as Vice-Chair at t he December 13 meeting of tle Board. Cindy Bruce with mom Anita. Hiamilton Twp. The Junior skaters are starting to prepare their programs for the "tinicun Far" which will be held on February l7th at the Oshawa Civic. and Cobourg fo Amalgamate Last week the municipalities of H7amilton Township and the Town )f Cobourg signed an agreernent Nhich will see the two raunicipalities amalgamate as of lanuary lst, 1991. it was an historie move on the art of the two municipalities and me one that the province bas been ooking for in their plans to lessen he number of centres in the coun- ty. It is a first step to reforming the county system within Nor- thumberland. The move caught the Mayor of Port Hope by surprise. Port Hope had been considering that along with the annexation of lands from Hope Township in the west the Town would also annex lands from Hamilton Township in the east. Some hope this may stili be possi- ble. Some 20,000 people now live within the confines of the two municipalîties, some 35 percent of the total population of the county.
