The Durham East association celebrated their 75th anniversary in the Newcastle Hall on Saturday evening dur.ing a banquet and dance which was well attended by present and past members of the associa- tion and their spouses and friends. An interesting, run through past history of the organization by former presidents relived a lot of memories. It was said on two occasions that the Junior Farmers' organization was one of the greatest match- makers in the world. Brînging things up to date Mar- vin Stapleton outlined some of the activities of the past year when the club donated $7000 to charity and local organizations. Included in the list was $2000 to the Seeing Dog group, -$1000 to each of Memorial and Port Perry hospitals as well as a VCR and Television for the Agýof-, fice and $500 for play equipment at the Blackstock playgrounds. Marilyn Green was presented witb a plaque for her outstanding contribution in 1989 as was Wendy Hollingsworth being the outstan- ding new Jr. Farmer. Marvin Stapleton also received -a plaque for his part in the association.
