4-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday, February 28, 19 J MCustom Tykes lose to Bowmanville On Friday, February 23 -the Orono J & M Custom Framing Tykes played host to Bowmanville I.D.A. Drugs and came out oin the short end of a 5-1 score. The game was much dloser thanthe score in- dicated, with both teams having good scoring chances in a scoreless first period. Again in the second, the action was end to end and final- ly Bowmanville hit the score sheet to end the second period with a 1-0 lead. The thi rd period proved to be a wîde open period, with Bowman- ville scoring the first three goals before Orono was able to beat the Bow manville goalie. Scoring for Orono w as Andrew Beacock who picked up a loose puck at centre and skated in on the left side and fired a shot into the far corner of the net. This was the last bright spot for Orono as Bowmnanville closed out the scoring on a late goal for a 5 to 1 win. Christopher Bouley played a strong game in goal holding Orono in a close game through the first two periods. AIl the players from Orono were '[kating and play- ing hard but B3owmanville managed to get the breaks when they needed them for the victory. This was a game that had been rescheduled as a resuit of the followîng Friday's Storm. Durin g the first period there was a lot of end to end rushes by both teams. The result being only one goal scored at 2:43 by the opposi- tion. The Orono players decided to fight back and in doing so they con- trolled all the scorîng in the second and third periods. Baltimnore tried many times to score but was unsuc- cessful in getting any past Orono's net man Ryani Schoep. Scoring for Orono was Jamnie Richiter assisted by Andrew Reid, Andrew Reid unassisted, Bobby Witheridge unassisted, and the last goal by Steve Foster assisted by Amny-Jane McAllister, final score being 4-1 for Orono. On February 21lst the Orono Novice played a U.C.H.L. gamne at Newcastle against their Novice team. Newcastle started off strong as they scored the first goal within haîf a minute. Then within another three minutes of play Newcastle scored again. The Orono players didn't give up trying and as a result scored halfway through the first. 'Scoring for Orono was Steve Foster assisted by Bobby Witheridge. Within two more minutes Newcastle again marraged to put one past Orono's net minder Ryan Schoep, making the score 3-1 fôr Newcastle. However 1 found nobody there, - 1 even looked in the closets, bathroom etc. in case someonie was p laying jokes with me - but everything was normal. Then I remnembered that both the front and TI back doors were locked!! But this proved to be their last goal of the night, as Orono dominated the rest of the third period scoring five goals. Lighting the scoreboard for Orono was Murphy Irvine unassisted, Bobby Witheridge unassisted, -Steve Poster assisted by Jamie Richter, Bobby Witheridge unassisted and Jamie Richter assisted by Jeremy Pare, the final score bing 8-4 for Orono. Playing a strong gamte in net was Orono's Ryan Schoep.
